Default A Plug-and-Play, DIY-Installable 993 Immobilizer Defeat

**********************************************************

This thread describes the development of a user-installable Immobilizer defeat that eliminates nuisance door lock cycling in Porsche 993's. With the help of fellow Rennlisters, the design evolved into a fully plug-and-play commercial product called IMMO BLOCK, released in March 2020. It can be installed by anyone in minutes, requires no wiring or other modification to the car, and is 100% reversible. Unlike ECU-type defeats that permanently delete anti-theft protection, IMMO BLOCK defeats the immobilizer without affecting OEM security. It's now installed in all variants of 1995-1998 MY US and Canadian market 993's and is offered with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

It's a small plug-in module:

Can it be packaged as an external adapter cable?

Right on! Make it so that it's easily reversible back to stock (a La Cobb tune) so that it can be armed when the vehicle needs added protection. Subscribed!

Car is already protected - it’s stick shift. No one can drive them any more.

Andy - the current prototype mounts inside the immo box but there's a chance the receptacle on the right side of the pic below can be used to mount the "demob" module. The receptacle says "AMP" on it (now TE Connectivity), but there are no other visible part numbers. Not sure what it's used for - nothing's plugged into it on my car and the schematics make no reference to it. Maybe a factory test jack?

One of the goals will be to make the mod as DIY friendly as possible, so if anyone has a lead on the part number and/or source for them it would be a big help. (An immobilizer schematic would be nice too!)

A sequence of ignition key strokes (ala FOB programming) could be used to revert back and forth between immob and demob. Not in the current prototype but easy to add. Great idea.
