Default Rear Speaker, Rear Seat removal?

I want to use the speaker wire running to my rear speakers to power a sub for now. How do I get into those speakers back there?

also, how can I remove the rear seats (if you can calll them that) to run the wiring under the carpet in that area?

thanks again guys

Kelly,
The speakers are under the rear shelf. IIRC its a few screws, and the whole section lifts. You should be able to run wires under the carpeting, and around the seats.

Thanks Phil,

I'll poke around back there this weekend and see if it's as intuative as you make it sound. I was hoping something on these cars was easy to work on. Everything up to now seems to have a master creation theme to them.

Believe me Kelly,
I removed my rear wiper, and the motor is located under the rear shelf......IF I could do it.........anyone can!!
I'm having a moment of clarity......You have to have the seat backs in the down postion.....and 4 or 6 screws.....in the "seatback panel"......and viola.....panel will remove.....speakers will be attached to panel...be careful of that...

Makes it alot easier to remove the rear shelf if you also take off the rear quarter trim since those are in front of the shelf on each side.

One thing to be careful of. The removal is all fine and dandy but make sure to keep those little screw recepticles from moving around. Otherwise you'll have a fun time trying to find and reposition them when putting the rear shelf back on.

Kelly,

You are one busy diy'er. Good going. Maybe reading your posts will inspire me to get of my butt! Now that the weather is getting nice here, I don't have any more excuses....
The car stays clean and waxed but I have some 'projects.'

Better watch out. Pretty soon your car will be sorted out and you'll start rolling down a hill or slipping down a slope or something like that.

chuck,

the slide began even before getting the car. at first, small stuff, you know?before you know it it starts to snowball.

weather here is always decent, so yeah, I have no excuses. We'll see how long the enthusiasm holds up, but for now it's a lot of fun. I feel for you guys on the mainland. This has been one rough year for many places, weather wise. Hope you're not stuck under feet of snow.

think warm thoughts

Don't worry, Kelly, it really IS easy. To echo Phil's statement, if I can do it, ANYONE can do it.

Kelly,
How did this go for you? I'm replacing the rear speakers, removing the rear seat backs and looking for a spot to mount a Basslink back there.

Any tips on getting those seat backs out and the speakers out?

Only if you're redoing the entire system, with a new amp under the passenger seat, etc.

...or if you've got a big caboose.

Man, that Rejex sounds like an all-purpose wonder product!

Actually, that's Rod Birch from Car Audio Innovations. Great guy!
