Gt3–> 993 C2S
Have had a 991.2 Gt3 for about a year but a 993 c2s has always been in the back of my mind. Unfortunately don’t have any significant seat time in one. The idea of a more analog, small, light car with all the Porsche quirks is intriguing.
Can anyone compare the two first hand and share their thoughts? Especially long term ownership of 993s. Thanks.
Looking ng to add to the gt3

I currently own a GT3 991.2 Touring and traded in a 991.2 winged variety for the Touring. Also have had 993's (not to mention 964's) in various specs to include C2S, Turbo, C4S, C2's, etc.
The low mileage 993's I have owned have been amazing, low maintenance, and a blast to drive. Yes the footprint is a lot smaller and the radio is horrible, but the road feel is so engaging as is the steering "feel" and the car is visually stunning.
The 993 market seems to be softening lately but so are 991 values. Long term, 993's will hold their values and be a great option.
IMHO

Sorry - never tried a car seat in the back but think owning both (which I now do - just picked up a Polar Silver 993 C2S) is awesome. There is a BIG difference in driving experience but both amazing. Gear box on both is amazing with the 993 being a little more pliable.

The 993 offers an analogue vintage feel. VASTLY different from your modern GT3. I do not own a GT3, but I do own a competition pack M3. Getting out of my M car and into my like new (18,000 mile) 993 is an adjustment. After the initial reaction to giving up 200 hp and about half the torque, I will tell you the 993 is a more enjoyable drive. Much more enjoyable, engaging, mechanical. The 993 deserves all the accolades it has gotten over the years. Not nearly as fast as a contemporary Porsche, but in my humble opinion, so much better. Just get in, smell it, and close the door. SOLD.

Would sell my GT3 way, way before my 993. Much better driving experience unless you are tracking it.

Easy answer: 100% worth it as they are completely different experiences. I take the GT3 out and relish in the refinement with lighting quick shifts (PDK), tight suspension, and aural bliss at 9k rpm and think to myself “This is my favorite car ever”. Then I drive the 993 and it’s so slow, analog and mechanical, and yet when turn the engine off I can’t help but think... “This is my favorite car ever”. Having both makes you appreciate the intricacies each of them offer every time you drive them.

the speed of the M3 is really not usable on public roads. Sure you can enjoy 2 or 3 seconds of hard acceleration but then it's back off or kill yourself. After a couple miles in the Porsche I never feel the car is lacking in power. It loves to rev, and has plenty of usable "go" to keep things very interesting.... in fact, it is actually a better fit for the driving I do. I like being able to get on it a bit without being at warp speed in an instant.
There is a video on youtube showing a 993 rat racing a modern GT3 on a track. The 993 driver was definitely better, and the GT3 faster on the open straights. The 993 driver was flogging the car for sure, but he was able to keep his car right in the tail of the GT3. Look it up. It's entertaining.

I am not suggesting my M3 is the equal of your GT3, but it too is wicked fast, sharp handling and smooth. Getting out of it into the 993 the Porsche feels slow. BUT...

Mine is a 2017 M3 competition pack. I had a 2016 and when I drove the competition pack car it was a night and day difference. Much better. The truth is my M3 is moody. Some days it drives and feels fantastic. Other days I can't wait to get rid of it. I'm not in love with it. Its stupid fast and handles great, but my 25 year old 993 is SO much better.
