Was "Horizon Blue" a PTS color for 993 ?

I been searching around to see if "Horizon Blue" was a factory color offered in the 993. Can't seem to see any information about this color except older generation 911s.

any input is much appreciated :)

I believe so. The two I have seen were both advertised as PTS. It was an early 90s color, but I don’t believe ever officially offered on a 993 as it was discontinued before the 993. One way to be sure is to look at the sticker which will show PTS (98 or 99 for the paint option).

Got it thank you!!

Besides calling my local dealer are there ways to find out what color my car was when it left the factory back in 1996? My car has been through a respray and all stickers were gone.

There are VIN decoders online (and a thread here where someone looks them up). You can also order a certificate of authenticity from Porsche which will list the color.

If it was reprayed, you can almost always find some original paint. A color change on a 993 is no joke so if you don’t see any evidence or another color, it’s probably the original color.

Wow great thank you!! Will look up the decoder and threads! Cheers :)

Pretty cool site, albeit in German, which has a listing of standard colors offered by year range, with pictures and a decoder for the paint code. Seems like Horizon Blue was an optional color from 1991- 1993.

It's funny how my color choices have changed with age. I started out wanting a Guard Red 993tt. Then the 997.1 GT3 Green & Orange caught my eyes. Now I have greater appreciation for my Arena Red. I also love a friends gun metal gray metallic 993 ( wish I knew color name). Just something to consider as you choose color.

I once purchased a 1969 280sl roadster in chocolate brown. I had it for about 5 years in my 30's. I always wished it was red. I got sooooo many compliments on that car due to its elegant color combination. I wish I still had it today. The color really fits my current tastes better than my former.
