Fister Stage 2 exhaust.
Seriously considering the Fister Stage II. Is there anyone in the CT area that has one on a '95? I would love to hear one in person before making the commitment. I would be willing to drive to you for lunch, coffee, whatever.

I want a sophisticated air cooled Porsche sound without the car being loud. Not into the pops and farts on overrun. Looking for a rich Mellow sound. I'm not looking to alert everyone I'm pulling into the club or coming down the street.

I can hear the flames even before I hit the submit reply button. .

Can’t help with Stage II but I just recently installed Stage III’s on my new to me 95 and they sound great. If anything the volume could have actually been a bit louder. Can’t imagine having anything quieter. I’m on Long Island if you want to hear them.

I’m not sure that it’s “sophisticated air-cooled noise”, but I’m not sure what that means exactly. Air cooled cars sound rough and a little raunchy on a good day.

If you are ever in NYC, I park my car in Astoria.

Exhaust sound is purely subjective in the same manner as color preference can be. I was running IIs but there wasn’t much of a noticeable difference (to my ears) over the motor sound so I went to the IIIs. What I like most about them is that they are very subdued below 3k rpm so pulling in and out of my golf-course community is no more invasive than the IIs were. However, on WOT they have a rip that fits the car perfectly with only subtle and infrequent burps & farts on trailing throttle.
Bottom line, the IIIs can sound as sophisticated as your right foot wants them to be!

I have Fister Stage II's on my 993 and love them. I think they're perfect - kind of like Goldielock's porridge.....….not too quiet, not too loud. They do make a great sound when you get on it.

I have II's that came with my 96. When I bought it I thought it was too loud. My wife thought it was obnoxious.
I took to a cars & coffee event and was sharing with a Porsche shop owner, he thought it sounded beautiful and thought I was crazy to consider removing.
I've grown to love it and smile whenever it gets beyond 3.5-4k RPMs.
I can try doing a video of it if that helps.
But, I'm sure with the IIIs it would been a bit too much.

Three Wheelin'
My first c4s came with stage I and 100 cell cats. When the cats failed I replaced with stock cat and stage III I found used. The original (stage I, 100 cell) was perfect -- a nice bite but not too obnoxious, not look-at-me I own a Ferrari with Tubi's sound. The stage III were loud and showy for me. I'm 60. I live amongst respectable folks. I want my car to stand out, with a strong voice but not scream. For my current c4s, I have stage I and 200 cell cats waiting in the garage. If it's not enough, I'll go stage II. But I suspect I'll be fine.

Honestly, my M5 Competition’s stock exhaust is more obnoxious than the Fister 3 with it’s massive thunderclap overrun pops. And I live in a very respectable neighborhood as well
Like 993pbug said - judging sound is like judging color. Depends on your point of view. I was actually a little worried about the 3 being too much, but I’m happy. But why bother worrying - just go for the lower level if you’re concerned; I or II. It will sound great, I’m sure.
Back to the OP - I’m not sure you should even bother changing the exhaust. Stock, all you hear is motor/intake noise and it’s pretty loud as it is. There is just little to no exhaust noise.
