Getting challenged on a daily basis.
Times are quite different from when i drove my first porsche in 1971. To be up front on this subject of being challenged it does not bother me in the least i may even get off on it a bit having been driving porsches for a good 50 years i have gotten used to it. I have raced many vehicles cars and motorcycles that i knew would blow my doors off at a set of light's going green but it was hay if it was safe why not. Now my case of point i have noticed a that the new young drivers in cars with so much horse power pulling up beside me at speed's of 50 to 70 miles an hour pace me push in the clutch rev there engine to red line for a long i mean long time all i can do is look over and give a sincer smile as in you have a cool car. The funny thing is my 1998 Carrera S must look like a threat to challenge because it sure look's fast but as we know it's not in todays car market. Have you guy's noticed this or is it the northeast only.

Drifting
I've had mine for 15 years now and never got challenged.
On the other hand, I've received LOTS of compliments over the years while getting gas.

Burning Brakes
This happens to me all the time. Especially the bit about them revving their car and bouncing it off the rev limiters.
I usually smile and nod and ignore them. Usually Japanese car drivers.

I daily a full bolt on and tuned Subaru WRX in Colorado and not a day goes by I don't get challenged it seems, but driving my 993 it's thumbs up and friendly conversations and I am 100% ok with that.

I'll take the bait when the situation warrants it. I will not get drawn into something when space/traffic/situation is not safe.
It's kinda cool to find the right like minded individual who wants to do a grudge pull. Stoplight racing or freeway pulls can be fun/safe if you know when to say when.
To date the most fun I ever had was going head to head with a 600cc sport bike in my old 600hp/600tq 993turbo. The rider was blown away when I took him. Nothing but praise from him after.

I have only been “teased” once by a Mitsubishi Evo - and managed to shut him down by out-braking him. He started his show on a busy 4 lane road - that alone illustrated his poor judgement (perhaps ignorance is more accurate) which didn’t even warrant any acknowledgement from me at all. After realizing my lack of interest, he continued on his way weaving between cars.
After merging onto the interstate a few minutes later, I noticed him (easily identified by the table-top size rear wing) roughly 1/2 mile ahead. With no other traffic around (surprisingly) and knowing I was approaching an area with no exits, I rolled on the throttle. I was in the left lane, about 10 car lengths behind, when he noticed me approaching “spiritedly” (oh, who am I kidding - was triple digits) and jumped on it. I braked and matched him perfectly front bumper to front bumper - how quickly I braked must have caught him off-guard because he backed-off immediately allowing me to slowly pass in a normal manner. He followed me at the speed limit for about 10 to 15 minutes without even decreasing his distance between us by 6 inches - and even gave me a wave & a nod when I exited.

Not many challenges here either. Lots of "thumbs ups" though (and photos), and I can almost always count on a chat when I stop for gas. Passing a school bus or kids on the side of the road is interesting, too, especially with the Fister 3's cranking.
