993 and NSX..... best 90’s driving cars and perfect stablemates?

Very nice. 3 pedal? I used to read in wonder about the famous engine out routine services and valve guide/header failures and wondered who in their right mind would buy such a thing. Only to later buy a 993 and spend a bundle doing an engine out service, haha. Prices seem very reasonable on F355s right now - seems like a good time to buy. I wonder how the drive compares to the 993.

Wow. Enjoyed the reading on this link of postings. Years ago, when I was dirt poor in medical school, my brother-in-law had traded up from a 993 to a triple black F355 convertible. Still remember the intoxicating ride we took around SoCal. Also remember him driving it through an ?In-n-Out? burger joint. Seemed so ludicrous at the time. Also ludicrous was him asking for me to pay for the food since he never carried cash on him. I probably had $50 to my name at the time. That car was one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen. However, so is the 993. Fell in love with that one as well and really enjoy the occasional drives of my 993C4S when it's not resting in storage. Nostalgia is a really cool drug for us as we age with these cars!!!

Rudy, do you like the F355?
Many feel it's slow but must be shifted near the rev limiter for best acceleration. (actually, optimal shift point is close to 9k but it cuts out at 8650)

It's early (especially from a maintenance/cost point of view) but at this stage I'm very pleased - it really rounds out my garage and provides a totally different experience than the 993 or Vantage.

I have only driven it a little bit so far (delivered on Wednesday but then I was out of town for work trip) but so far it is great. I'm not a huge power guy (much to the amusement of my friends with GT3s and other modern high HP cars) so I certainly don't find the F355 underpowered, I love the engine from 6000-8500 rpm.

I'm not a huge power guy either but when you're wringing out a small displacement/high specific output engine it feels more rewarding when it's delivering everything it's capable of.

Years ago I began researching which car to get into: 993 or f355. Whilst attempting to determine which car would be the better choice, one car repeatedly crept into my searches that wasn’t on my radar: the 2nd gen viper gts. Ultimately I chose that car and fell in love from delivery day. I’ve owned 5 since.
I just picked up my first 993 c2, and I’m expecting a polar opposite driving experience. The f355 is still on my radar, but with a young growing family, I’m not prepared to take on that level of potential maintenance just yet. For now, the 993 and viper (and daily duty z06) should round out the garage nicely enough.

I know its not a 993, but i replaced my 964 with a 91 NSX (after a short stint in an alfa guila QF) 2500 miles later, the NSX is for sale. I'll be looking for a 993 soon. its a great car, but not for me. if i had room for two, it could possibly stay
