You'll probably need to better define your parameters. Are you trailering the car or driving it? Are you a fairly new track driver or do you have 100 plus days under your belt?

Cup 2's is what I run. my 993 is mostly canyons and autocross.

Once cup 2's warm up they have amazing grip.

We've run Cup 1 or 2, NT01 and RE71 The Michelins need more warm up than the others all have great grip hot, not so much wet

Rain, coming to or going home from the track should be just as much a consideration as on-track. NT01's are no fun in the wet, RE71R's with full tread depth are somewhat better.

I'll say it - you have brass ones to be tracking a legit 993RS. Good for you.Heck I can't even muster the courage to buy the car to drive it on the street let alone on the track.

Terrifying in cold/wet. I drove home on them in a minor surprise flurry, not sure how I lived.

Lots of good tires mentioned already. Another to investigate is the Hankook R-S4. They are popular in endurance racing for good reason.

That being said, a 993 in mostly street trim is a blast to drive on track even with normal street tires. I kind of like the more "active" track experience (more slip angle) all while putting less wear and tear on the suspension, brakes, etc, when you run less grippy tires.

interesting. Have commuted to track 3 hours in torrential rain and been fine. But was over 50 degrees

Interesting post.. How do the cup 2’s compare to the RE-71? Also, what about the new Michelin ps4? What would be the ultimate choice for weekend canyon carver and 3 or so DE’s a year ? Thx

Use them on my 944, surprisingly good in the wet.

Yes, I think with good tread they are probably fine in wet (as fine as any other track focused street tire) as long as it is not cold. Probably did not help as it was on a lotus.
