Default Reduce Braking - guesses?

All,

Always love to get the wisdom of the crowd on my car issues. Brake pedal is rock hard and brake performance is reduced. Car still stops but it requires some effort.

Warning light on and small puddle on garage floor. Puddle is located almost exactly in the center of the front of the car (directly under the back of the frunk). Car is now at my indy.

Thanks.
Tim

What does the brake fluid reservoir level look like?

Don't know. Car is at the shop so I can't check. Good question.

Verify that the puddle fluid is oily if not it could just be condensation dripping from your AC evaporator drain,

Usually the brake warning light means that you have no brake pads left (front or rear) or your brake fluid is low. I'm guessing that you have worn your pads past the wear indicators, which can also cause you to have low brake fluid due to the fluid filling the lines to compensate for the lost of brake pad.

+1 on brake pads. I wouldn't expect brake fluid to be leaking in the front/middle. All connections are either front drivers side or at each wheel.

Very unlikely it's pads although that would be awesome. They were measured in March by a Porsche dealer as part of PPI and were nearly new. I'll post what I learn from the shop.

If it's just pads, you may need a couple new rotors too. But I don't know what else could cause a warning light plus reduced braking performance. I guess it's conceivable to have just one pad failure.

That water on the floor is condensation from A/C... and has nothing to do with your brakes. Sounds like your ABS Booster Pump went out. That is costly!

Yeah. That would suck. But hopefully it's the master cylinder like the mechanic believes.

Yeah hopefully that’s it. Problem with these low mile cars is once you start actually driving them ...issues start to creep up on you.

Agreed. I knew that's what I was likely getting in to. I figured I'd have 4-6 months of working out the kinks. But after that I hope I'll have a clean example that is well known to me and my indy.

I hear ya! When I purchased mine from Classic it had 27,000 on it and worked out some kinks here and there ... but modding for me hasn’t stopped and it’s been 3+ years of ownership now... nothing but a constant slippery slope!
