Default Shift ****/boot one piece?

Are the shift **** and boot one piece or can I remove the **** without removing the boot?

The leather is force fit over the **** ball and is probably glued over the **** top as a single unit. To separate the **** from the leather would probably involve destroying the leather.
They are shown as a single part in the parts catalog. Why do you ask?

If you want to use the boot with a different ****, you can cut the leather near the bottom of the **** with an exacto knife. Fold the top of the boot (where you cut it) down towards the inside (so the finished side of the leather is against the shaft). Reach up inside the boot from the bottom, use a small tie-wrap to secure the part of the boot that you folded against the gearshift shaft. Voila... this is exactly how the factory secures the boot for the rootwood shift *****.

Two rubber O-rings work well too, maybe better than a zip tie. That is what function first sends with their ****. If you look at the instructions on their website, you can see the process. Very happy with mine. I did the taller model so I have a "long throw" shifter.

Isn't this self explanatory by just looking at the ****/boot?

Or do you mean the plastic infill on top of the **** with the shift pattern? That can be replaced separately.

It took me some time before I put the knife and did the cutting on my brandnew shift ****/boot!
