Default Fog light alternatives

Ah yes the gravel pit strikes again. I had a nice chunk fall from a truck and took out my driver side fog light.

Do i replace it or take this opportunity to ditch the bumperettes and install the much better looking IMO air inlets? Do the air inlets adversely impact value? My car is nice but it's no virgin (been repainted). I believe they require some cutting of the bumper behind the inlets regardless of what the air feeds. Suggestions or product links appreciated.

I installed ducts, which I had to modify slightly, as they are designed to be used with euro bumbers, and not US bumperettes.
by modify slightly, I mean, used a dremel to shave off the corner, which would have obstructed where the bumperette connects. The S style ducts with the round light are quite popular as well. Since I do mainly city driving, I have little need for fog lights, and also with HIDs, I get all the light I need out of the headlights.

I vote to remove the bumperettes and go with ducts, either with or without the lights depending on your preference/need. It is all removable back to original anyway, so I don't thinkl value is adversely affected at all. No cutting, but you do need to fill the hole where the bumperettes go. (I would think it is actually preferred and therefore a plus up on the cost.)

Thanks for the reply. From what i've seen it looks like my amber light does't wrap far enough around the front to meet the air duct.

i'd probably go this route
https://www.fvd.net/us-en/FVD100111/...c-cooling.html

or this route if i decide to keep the lights. i kind of like the no-light look better.

https://www.fvd.net/us-en/FVD631980/...ng-lights.html

think either would work? Maybe i need to ditch the ambers a go clear anyway.

You can purchase Euro side markers, that meet up with the fog/duct.

I didn't realize you have a black car. I also have a black C2, so the bumperettes don't really bother me that much. At the end of the day it is up to you.

I got the air inlets without the lights from FVD, decent product, the part number is FVD 100 111, they were only $99 when I got mine!

When I decided to respray my front bumper due to rock chips, I figured that was the time to get rid of the bumperettes and go with OEM Turbo S ducts that I purchased from Gert over at Carnewal. Although I think the ducts can be made to provide front brake cooling, mine are poser for looks alone and the LEDs function as daytime running lights.

I doubt it detracts at all from value, and since most don't like the bumperettes, might even result in a minor bump in value to those like-minded.

Your car looks good

thanks for the tip

i have too many car expenses going lately with a frame off Austin Healey restoration taking place and don’t need to spend a grand filling bumperette holes

I purchased a set of made-in-Austria Cult-Werk ducts from FVD three years ago. The ducts are molded plastic and required minimal prep before I primed, painted & cleared them. Very light and fit nicely - as opposed to the saggy Better Bodies ducts I had years ago.

Default Air Ducts

Hi everyone, Looking for a pair of Cooling Air Ducts w/ Fog Headlamp #993 631 980 00.
If anyone has a set that they would like to sell I'm in the market. I have a black car but any color will do.
Thanks,
Mitch

The FVD price of the turbo S ducts is wrong, they are well over $500 a pair

Many members on here have these;

Great value for money

I have the same setup as goofballdeluxe. Clear markers, bumperette delete, factory ducts and added some superbrightleds inside the lights (don't work for night time visibility). I like it overall.

I faced a similar decision recently, although the damage was not as severe.. I went with restoring the Units..

Original Unit..

Glass removed, clean with strong cleaner.. I used Acetone..

Spray to Silver of choice; I went with Polar Silver to match the Bodywork.. Mask off the channels that the Glass will sit in..

All done..!

Don't be shy, but don't flood the channels either, the Glass has to want to stay put..

Paint Dry, ready for Glass

Installed..
