What's this connector?

Just curious. I opened up the door panel to do the reinforcement fix and also replace the four door speakers (not the tweeter). What's this connector for?

There was a Digital Signal Processor option upgrade for our cars. I believe that was the plug for attaching the module.
When our cars were made amplifier output was relatively low so all things being equal just putting a newer head or power amp under the seat can improve sound quality dramatically. The Premium Sound speaker boxes on the doors were an analog solution that being grossly underpowered really didn't make the grade. Today many heads have as much as 25 Watts per channel (Equivalent RMS) and built-in high quality Digital Signal Processors that sound great in our cars right out of the box.
