Smile Griot's "Clay Mitt"?

Has anyone tried Griot's "Fine Surface Prep Mitt and its diamond-patterned polymer/clay matrix". The video looks interesting, and I do feel/hear some possible contaminants on my paint, although it does look amazing. I have had several people ask me what I use to keep it looking so good

This mitt is pricey, so I'm looking to learn from someone else's experience.

I saw one at the Griot's booth at Werks Amelia Island this year, and it looked really good so I bought one, but I haven't used it yet And probably won't get a chance for the next few weeks. SO if nobody else has a report by then, I can give one

Edit: I have the sponge as described in the following pst, not the mitt, sorry about that

I have the synthetic clay sponge that they sell. It does work. Maybe not quite as good as traditional clay, but it's faster, easier, cleaner and still pretty effective.

Also bought one months ago and haven't used it. It also rains almost every day here so I don't even wash my cars anymore.

They work well.

Another company makes clay pads that fit the DA. Makes short work of large areas.

$50? I know detailing products are expensive but that seems a bit much for a mit.

I have one. Felt like I had better results with traditional clay

Finally used the yellow mitt. Washed the car, ran another bucket of soap and lightly washed again with the mitt, hand waxed with Griots One Step Sealant, and followed up with Griots Best of Show Detail spray. Happy with the results on Guards Red.

Just my 2 cents, I bought the Blackfire version of this product, it's ok in a pinch, but hardly a replacement for good quality claybars, I tried it on a variety of conditions, pollen, sap, fallout, and it's not really great at anything, other than a very light cleaning. I had to go over most of the work I did with it, with a claybar to pick up residue and things it left behind. it also takes a million years to dry if you really get it wet.

Maybe these were meant for lazy detailers like myself. I absolutely hate waxing cars.

I am not a fan of the huge amount of brake dust Porsche's generate, but for me detailing is one of the highlights of ownership (I have 997.2)
