Driver's Door Hard to Close
The driver's door on my 993 is a bit harder to close than the passenger one. I don't like to slam doors, so often I take more than one try to close this one. The passenger side always seems to close easily with just one try.
The shut lines and closed position of the driver's door are all correct.
Any suggestions on how to correct this?

you mean as you swing it in there's more resistance or when it closes, it doesn't close completely? (if former inspect hinges & A piller parts, if not latching then the B pillar stuff.
But its really just your right arm is stronger than your left (or are you talking about closing the door from the outside)

Seals are all good. Hinges are well-lubricated. It swings freely and everything is good until it hits the latch mechanism, then it just takes a harder swing to get it to close fully and latch. The latch also is clean and functions well--just hard.

When I rotate the locking mechanism that is exposed on the rear edge of the door, it seems to take a little more effort to move it to the second click that does the passenger door one. My next step will be to take the door card off, inspect and lubricate the inside bits of this part of the lock.

See if any debris has accumulated in the pocket of the latch mechanism on the B pillar.
Lubricate the door hinge and the doorkeeper (door stay) rod in the door jamb,
Rub a little silicone lube on the door seal rubber gasket
Should clear things right up.

Took door card off, removed plastic cover (didn't see this in the parts diagrams) over the lock mechanism inside the door. All worked perfectly, so I just shot it with some lube (HHS 2000) and buttoned it all back up. Did what Andy suggested, cleaned and lubed the bits on the A-pillar, Gummiphleged the door seals. Still no joy.
If I hold the door handle trigger and close the door, it encounters more resistance in the last 10-15mm of travel on the driver's door vs. passenger door. It's a springy feeling resistance. Everything appears lined up correctly, and the door fit is perfect when closed, not sunken or proud, just right.
Puzzled and perplexed, but persistently persevering.

I remember reading here on Rennlist that when some folks have replaced the door seal with the 964 seal instead of the more expensive 993 seal, the doors are harder to close. Maybe your situation ??

Thanks, but door check straps check out okay!
When I close it, the door feels like it is pushing against the clockspring in the latch mechanism inside the door, as it should, but why would it feel stronger/stiffer/harder to close than the identical setup on the other door? This is easier to judge if you push the door shut while holding the trigger in the handle, if anyone cares to try both their doors and provide some comparison feedback.
(And yes, I'm OCD, with too much time on my hands.)

With the door open grab it at the bottom edge near the back and check for play in the hinge pins. Compare to the passenger side. My drivers door is tougher to close and I notice play in the pins vs the passenger side.
I've got new pins and bushings but it's a bit of a chore, bushings have to be reamed to size after pressing into the hinges.

Burning Brakes
My drivers door is mildly harder to shut than the passenger door also. Did you check it with the window rolled down? Mine just seems to be tight like air tight. Perhaps the passenger door just has a door seal that's more worn into place? I say just put more a little more a$$ into it It's generally not an extremely light door to shut.

Three Wheelin'
I just went through and lubricated my door straps; sometimes, grease and stuff can get built up on/in there and they can cause a fair amount of resistance,.. You can check the strap for the cad plating being rubbed off... when I lubricated mine initially, the doors were actually harder to close for a couple of days, and now they're both really smooth... You can lubricate them with the door fully open and shooting a bit of lubricant into where the strap goes into the door/ plastic part.
