Default 1994 993 rear wheel speed (ABS) sensors

Hi, I really hope someone can help with this.

My 1994 993 Carrera 2 has just come out of winter hibernation and has thrown an ABS fault light.

I have resistance tested all the ABS sensors and one of the rear ones is open circuit, all the rest are hovering around 1000ohms (plus or minus 50 ohms or so)

The problem is, according to Porsche the part number is 99360640200 and is no longer available, but the 1995 onwards ones are showing as available (99360640500) but the dealer says they are not sure if these will work with the 94, as the Porsche system would usually be showing them as the replacement for what I need, but it is just showing the ones I need as "dropped - no longer available"

Anyone have a Bosch part number for the 99360640200 abs sensors, or information if the later ones will work?

I was hoping to get the car back on the road, but it needs to pass an MOT (UK yearly inspection) test before I can use it!

Help!!!

Is it just me, or is it that since Porsche started promoting the Porsche Classic services and parts, getting parts for the 993 has become more of a problem?!?

That part hasn't been available since 1995...

It is perfectly fine to use the newer sensor on a MY94 but you will have to replace both rear sensors. You can't use one old style on the left and one new style on the right.

Check the part numbers on the leads mine is a '94 and I had to replace one sensor they were the later type (never replaced) so I only needed one. Not an easy job as they seize in.

Thank you guys! You're all awesome!

Many thanks for the help!

I have ordered the pair, to be sure they match and the ABS system does not get upset about a mismatch. Thanks for the tip.

Now I just need to get the rest of the summer fleet running and through the MOT test!

Good luck! Let us know how you get on. Where did you order the sensors from in the end?

911PERVY do you always carry these in stock in your online store type911shop?

basically, does the stock status on your store reflect real time availability?

Andy,

Jason provided a link to the relevant TSB in his post above.
I believe Jason (or maybe someone else here) provided a download of TSBs sometime in the past.

As usual, Jason is spot on!

Does we anyone know if the new part# 993.606.405.00 (Bosch 026.5006.344) also works on the front of a 1994-1995 993?

I took off my old crusty ones on the front and they disintegrated. original part # 993.606.404.00

The answer is yes. I tried replacing all the 993 ABS sensors with the 996 sensors and they worked. Bosch part # 0265006344
