I live in Philly. Allentown is not far from Downingtown. I strongly recommend Dougherty Automotive. Ask for Bill Dougherty or Steve, Dougherty's Service Manager. They are reputable and in business for years.
Good spot! They can be trusted.

Specialty Cars in Allentown is my choice for anything p-car; especially aircooled.

Gentleman thanks...vehicle was serviced at dealership the first half of most recent ownership...then Second Gear Performance. Apparently was a CPO for latest owner. I’m stopping tomorrow on the way to Casa Du Cactus to test drive, and crawl around. Already put an immediate deposit down to lock it in, early am Monday. Not a 911, and not air cooled. Who says lightning doesn’t strike twice.

I moved to Allentown 18 months ago. Regrettably, I will miss you at Hershey this year.
Porsche of the Lehigh Valley is under new owership, which seems to be beneficial. The sales manager is a good guy and long-time Porsche Club member. I have no experience with their Porsche service nor am I familiar with Schearer's. Specialty Cars is the "go to" Porsche spot, particularly for older 911s. But, you aren't looking at a 911 and Specialty is usually quite backlogged, which may not make it your best choice.
With all respsect to Twilightblue28A, Doughtery is good and a Porsche specialist but they are about 90 minutes south of Allentown. That seems a bit far for a PPI. I also like Performance Automotive in Malvern, which has worked on my 993 for 15 years, if you're looking at another Porsche. But, Malvern is still an hour away from Allentown.
If it's German or another brand of performance car other than a P-car, consider JCL Automotive in Hellertown, 15-20 minutes east of Allentown. They have worked on my '03 BMW since I moved here and I recommend them. 1 484-851-3390

Vehicle was serviced at Second Gear Performance the last two years, previously by the dealer...apparently was under some kind of warranty early on with the current owner. Test drove it Friday on the way to Hershey., CEL came on during the drive ironically, I felt the occasional studder on acceleration...I told the salesman what it would probably be. Remarkable condition for a 10 YO, 82k mile example. On consignment.
CEL was diagnosed and I have the option of buying it fixed at the advertised price, or knocking $2k off and get it fixed myself. Waiting for the code, and repair estimate from the dealer before deciding. Confident I can get the parts, and have my local Indy fix it for considerably less. Don’t imagine that $2k difference was parts, and labor at cost for the dealer...so it’ll be easy to beat that.
Either way, deposit has been down since last Monday to secure the first right of refusal.
It should be “home” by next weekend.
