Default WTB-sorted drivers 993

Got the itch again and now wish I hadn't parted with my well sorted slate grey RS tribute.
What's the saying?
You're never really without one, just in between.
Was kicking around a 964 but sh*t, their prices are higher than 993's!
WTH happened while I was gone?

Max budget $50k, hi mileage ok. Supension upgrades a plus.
I've searched all the usual places, so anyone who's thinking about selling or knows of a good one, PM me.

Brian,
I remember when you sold your car, thinking you wont be able to replace your nice example....good luck in your search.

You can thank Singer for popping 964 prices into unobtainium.

You know after owning two 964's and now owning my first 993 there isn't much of a comparison. My 993 has a lot more mileage on it than my 964's yet it is a so much a nicer driving car. I just don't get the 964 thing even with Singer snapping some of them up. Even 89 Carrera 4s go for too much money, I couldn't hardly get anyone interested in my 89 with like 30K on it in 2006 when I tried to sell it and look at the prices of them now.

My car would be perfect for you, but sorry I’m not selling!

I agree with you. My first 964 was a poor handling pig. But that was my own fault for buying a C4 Cab. My second 964 (an RSA) was great fun, but as soon as I drove a 993, I knew I had to have one. The RSA was great, of course, but the 993 is on a whole different level. I think it is easy to think harshness == performance, and that may be part of the 964’s appeal. Its the last 911 that can be truly harsh to drive. The 993 rear suspension was a game changer, and I personally wouldn’t want to go back.

This is a Rennlister's car for sale in SoCal: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...s-angeles.html

It's also on Craigslist but is $3k cheaper ($42k) on Pelican.

Not meaning to start an argument, but do we really think the "Singer effect" has that much weight on overall 964 values? How many did they produce so far - 200 cars, maybe? And what - 50 (if that) on a wait list? Latest collaboration with Williams is production-limited to 75 cars, so overall just don't see the Singer 'wave' moving the 964 market to such effect given they are a handful of cars relative to overall 964 production. (I spoke to the Singer guys in person when they were displaying the Lightweight Study, the admitted they have a way to go before being sold out of the 75 examples they are envisioning to produce).

Heck, by that parallel, maybe with the Guntherwerks / Vorsteiner offering, the 993 market further moves upward

I totally agree ( not to hijack this thread) ! I also had a 93 RSA back in 94 and of course should have kept it!! $$$$$$

I think it has had an effect, but not in terms of supply. The number of cars they’ve pulled off the market and converted has been relatively small. I do think they’ve had an impact on demand though. It’s a halo car that has cast a lovely glow on all the ‘lesser’ 964s and brought their values up. If Guntherworks ever captures the popular imagination in the same way (which to me seems unlikely) then it could have the same effect on the 993.

Check this one out on rennlist marketplace:

https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1136125

A ‘95 - so no worries about future SAI-related CEL and passing emissions.

maybe it’s even one of the 95s that have separate 1-2 gears on mainshaft in case you ever have the itch for a Re-gear.

No affiliation with seller. I got a 1997 and sometimes I wonder if a 95 would have been better for the reasons listed above.

How about this offering from Mooty. Similar to your Avatar with a 3.8

maybe it’s because there isn’t really a damn thing on the market today that’s remotely compelling below $60k. Sure you can get a gt350 or a cayman or a vette for $60k with a warranty but will the issues be covered?

Don’t think of what they are and how old they are and what they once cost. Rather, what would you prefer that costs less? There are plenty of people that choose something else but there are plenty more left over and fewer 964’s.

and fwiw I prefer my 993 to my 964 but I’m not bemoaning the 964 prices.

I'm going to sell my 74k mi. 993, but it won't be here and it certainly won't be $50K, for the upgrades per my avatar.

Why are you selling?
