Part of my engine is broken
I popped the engine lid yesterday and found that part of my engine is broken. I’m really worried about this so I’ve booked the car with my Indy for next week. He recommends an engine drop in order to do the repair correctly. Uggh! https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...6bf07bbcc.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...33e0608b8.jpeg Andreas |
Maybe Steve will chime in to recommend his favorite local Indy. Definitely not DIY for the shade tree wrench. |

I could fly over and change your fan rubber shroud for half of the price of an engine-out job. I'd appreciate if you clean your engine first though.
:roflmao: Tore |
3.9 Rothsport or Rennsport upgrade? While yer in there.... |
You are kidding right, engine drop for the fan shroud. LOL> anyway, your engine looks sooo clean.. BTW, what color did you use for your Fan housing, looks singer like..

Might as well replace the valve guides when you're fixing that... you're basically *right there anyway*.

The fan shroud is painted Duplicolor "Cast Coat Iron". Andreas |

Do you think there are other "while-I'm-in-there" things that should be replaced? I'm not sure why my engine needs to come out but I trust my Indy.

This is what’s great about the 993 forum- folks providing great advice for while yer there. I’d like to add one thing which is have your trusty Indy remove that funny pulley and tensioner that looks exactly like the tensioner on my beater Jeep GRand Cherokee, and replace them with the correct Porsche pulley/shims set up. I'd only trust a dealership for this kind of repair. Porsche Classic service would be ideal and worth the premium. They know these cars better than anyone.

I had the same thing happen when I removed my fan. The rubber came apart as soon as I started tugging on it |
Someone pm quadcammer because he wrote an extensive DIY on this procedure. |
Part out.
