The first Porsche I ever rode in was a black '95 993 C2. Was 15 so couldn't drive it but I remember it like I was yesterday.

Twenty years later, my first Porsche was a '16 Turbo S. Still crazy to think about that. Here we are 3 years later and I have my second Porsche, a 991.2 GT3. Even crazier to think about. And the stretch to buy the first car is the only reason I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to spec the second car (MSRP).

I have never been able to shake the lust for an air-cooled car, but I can't go back to lower powered cars. I made the mistake the other day of driving a '96 993 Turbo and am 100% hooked. It ticks all the boxes: it sounds, drives, smells, feels amazing. And it should hold its value fairly well. I thought for a brief moment about trading the GT3 on it (I love it that much) but after driving my car again the only way I'll get a 993 is if I pair it with the GT3.

Anyway, thought I'd share my experience and see if anyone else had any similiar stories, words of wisdom, advice, etc. What a special car the 993 Turbo is.

My 993 is a C4S (I'm not really that hooked on big power personally) but it sounds like a 993TT would be a perfect stablemate to the GT3 for you. Go for it! 993s are wonderful cars IMO.

I own a 993TT and had the privilege of driving Ilko's RS build this past week. Both are great options.

993TT - power is awesome and almost overwhelms chassis.
993RS - regear plus weight removal and RS seats is a fun ride. The regear feels like there is plenty of power.

Cost would be similar for both. The 993 track car in classifieds is an appealing option as a base to start. Add back AC and sound deading bits with removal of cage will turn that car into a hoot of a drive under $60K.

I've only driven a stock 993TT but it was just about perfect with the exception of the suspension and shifter. I have my eyes on a way too expensive car that has had a lot of the right mods done to it, which by my calculations I would spend anyway if I bought a completely stock car. Am I crazy to pay upper end 991.2 GT3 money for a 993TT?? The car I've found is the perfect color with the perfect options and mods; I would be willing to trade a child for this thing.

You don't need to pay $180K+ for a 993TT. All 3TTs will require another $10K to sort out aged parts. The mods are:

Suspension
Golden Rod short shift
200 cell cats
Fister D turbo muffler or Fabspeed muffler bypass. It is the last gen P turbo which can produce a decent exhaust noise.



Also manual boost gauge replacing clock.

Get the TT while you have the opportunity. GT3s are easy to come by.

I am considering keeping both but leaning towards trading the GT3. Pains me to do that though, as it was quite the experience specifying and ordering that car new. Almost like having another child.

You already have one of the cars you want in your garage, specced exactly how you want it. Keep it. They're not making more 993TTs but they're not disappearing either. Give your finances a year, and see if you can add the TT then.

If you have the space do it, but be warned you'll start savaging the world over for various tid bits of parts. GT oil cooler, suspension arms, shocks, the right spring rates, to 3 spoke steering or not?, the list goes on and the hunt is half the fun.
