Default Seat Touchup

I wish I would have taken before and after photo's. I wasn't planning to post but the outcome looked pretty good, so thought it was worth sharing.

My car has dark grey seats and are starting to show a little wear, generally just some light creasing. The creases were lighter color than the surface so were more visible then I liked. I purchased some leather polish in the same color to touch them up. I found Tarragon shoe cream on amazon. The color purchased was #15 Gris Oscuro Dark Gray.

I started by using leather cleaner and let the seats dry overnight. I then applied the cream with a rubber tipped paint brush. I worked the polish into the cracks, let it dry and polished. I applied a second coat to get a few spots missed the first time.

Curious what you guys think.

Looking good! What is your interior color code? I have Classic Grey interior with Code: TT, wondering if I can use the same cream?

Yes seat code Classic Grey TT.

I have not had a problem with color coming off on my clothes. I used the same product with two older BMW’s. One with black seats and the other tan. I also used the black polish on a black steering wheel and did not have a problem with it coming off on my hands.

The steering wheel on my car was beginning to show it's age. The Classic Grey color was beginning to go away at the usual wear points. I restored it using a repair kit from Leatherique. They're in Aiken, South Carolina. The kit came with everything needed and it turned out very nice. The kit wasn't cheap (about $100) but the results are fantastic. They also sell seat repair kits as well. No affiliation, just a satisfied perfectionist customer.

I have found that if one uses a little clear wax shoe polish over the color wax it reduces the rubbing off. Another alternative is to use shoe dye and then clear wax over it.

I have also used acrylic artists paint in the color of the leather mixed 50/50 with Johnson's Paste Wax and applied it in several coats buffing it out between coats. I used this method to freshen-up gouges and scratches in the yellow leather accents I added to my Speed Yellow Carrera.

Wow good ideas. I think I will add a little clear polish over it to help seal the color in.

I did see that Tarragon sells a die in the same color. That may be a solution as well.

Yes a great idea. Thanks for the post. Will give it a try on some bolster spots.

Just a follow up - I bought a jar of the gray shoe polish and tried it on my drivers bolster. That bolster has a few creases and the polish did a great job and blended well. Much faster and easier than using the Surflex Classic Gray dye. Great idea - thanks.

I did this with blue seats. Mine were not bad but it helps on the creases and one small scuff. One caveat, leatherique oil will remove some of it. Not a big deal to reapply though.

Great ideas thanks everyone. I used a leather paint or stain for my grey shift lever and boot. That was a couple years ago and it has held up well.

Mine seem fine. Need to do another leatherique oil treatment as I have been driving around a lot, but the blue shoe polish is holding well (the oil will take some off and then I will reapply the shoe polish). Maybe I will be lazy and just use lexol ....

So I decided to do a little work on my seats.
Products used from Amazon:
- Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner and Conditioner Complete Leather Care Kit (4 oz) - $10.99
- Tarrago Shoecream Jar 50Ml. Dark Gray #15 $6.40
I just rubbed the products in with paper towels

Passenger side:

Cleaned with Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner

After using Chemical Guys Leather Conditioner

After rubbing in Tarrago Shoe Cream
