New engine drop in questions

Lets say theoretically I found a great 993S or 4S, that needed a new engine.

If I wanted to drop in approx 420 reliable, naturally aspirated HP - what would this cost me? Who currently offers relatively simple solutions (if that exists)?

What else would be involved in this project? - ie; suspension / cooling / exhaust, etc....

Thx in advance

Um, er, the price of a GT3 motor, plus incidentals to make the water cooled motor work in the air cooled chassis.

420 hp naturally aspirated? Ha ha. You won't find anything useful on Rennlist. Maybe an LS1? Suffice it to say that this is never done.

Williams motor in the Singer. Probably won't sell you a motor and it would cost a fortune

Rothsport motor in Gunther Werks car. Maybe $150k motor?

Or put the car on a diet.. less weight = more HP! (feel)
Or work on suspension.. remove HP draining movement of components = more HP! (feel)
Or use your brakes less..

Better have the deepest of deep pockets... why does it need a "new engine"? You could probably rebuild it unless there's holes where holes shouldn't be...

Jeff can obviously make that happen and the best is never cheap. Ask him about his 3.9 vs 4.0 engine. much of the same results with a lower cost....

It would cost between $9,760 and $13,541, depending on resonance chamber variables.

You're all assuming he meant an air-cooled drop in. Go with an M96 or M97 and this is totally doable.

I didn't. Here are the specs of a 2018 NA gt3 motor...

4.0L DOHC 24-valve flat-six / 500 hp @ 8,250 rpm, 339 lb-ft @ 6,000 rpm.

So what if it's 80 horsepower over the OP's soecification...

I don't like phrases like "drop-in" as nothing simply drops in. I don't like the phrase "while I'm in there" either as it usually is a very costly phrase. But when you put the two together as in "drop in an engine and while I'm in there up its output to 420 horsepower" absolutely no good can come from this as it is an attempt to purchase unobtanium and its attendant financial ruin.

this would fit nicely....

Thx guys - crossing this idea off the wish list for now

For $20K in parts you can build a pretty fantastic 350hp engine using 9M heads/cams and 3.8 p/c's. It's not 8000 RPM GT3 power but it is a hell of a lot of fun, tons of torque, and true to the character of the 993.

Thanks Churchill, is there a link where I can read / learn more?
