Mesh spoiler grill inset
Just purchased a spoiler to mess around with. Thinking of building a mesh style insert to replace the plastic spoiler grill. Anything to consider when doing this? Should I be concerned with aero dynamics, water enetering the engine bay, etc? I assume the stock grill is shaped in such a way to help move air and also deflect water. How much of a concern should this be when choosing materials, etc. any thought, suggestions, etc would be a great help! Thanks guys!

I replaced the faded black plastic grill on my 993 a dozen or so years ago. It was not easy to separate the grill from the spoiler frame, as the two pieces are glued/bonded together. To install the new grill, I used 3M Windo-Weld, a one-part urethane windshield adhesive. Without the grill attached to it, the spoiler frame is quite floppy.

Not sure on if it’ll work, but I used 1/4” stainless mesh weave, and placed it under the black insert. It took a bit of fitment, but is perfect, and protects garbage from getting on top of intercooler. Can no longer upload pics to RL, without losing my mind.
