On my way home from CPR last week ...
Spent January 2nd with a good buddy, my son and son in law at CPR in Fallbrook CA. I was more than impressed with this operation and the detail these folks take in restoring some incredible Porsche’s.I knew it was dangerous walking in and my checkbook was at risk and I didn’t disappoint myself 😆. After a great tour by Dylan we came upon an under restoration numbers and color match Tangerine 1969 912 coupe. This car is going to be incredible and my checkbook came out! I should take possession sometime in March (hopefully) and will post upon delivery ( yes in the appropriate section) so why Am I sharing this story? Well because there is the rest of the story, during our tour my son was totally jonesing over a spectacular 1996 C4S, Guards/Black 26K, all original never touched paint work and in amazing, honestly we hear this often but it is like it was just driven off the showroom floor. Yes I liked it a lot but my scene is vintage 356s, 911/912s sprinkled with some other stuff. Well on the drive home my boy shares his memories of being a passenger in my 1997 GR C4S back in 1999-2003, his memory was bang on, he rembered every little detail including air drumming to “Dire Straits-Money for Nothing “. This blew my mind as he was 8 years old when I bought this car and it also triggered for me the reason I am enamored with the old 911s etc as I was around 8 when a neighbor took me for a spin in his new 1969 911 T Targa. So after a few calls with Dylan a deal was struck, my pristine memory infused Irish Green Targa is being replaced with a Pristine GR 993 C4S. My son is beyond blown away it will be his and he will join me and my air cooled pals in the Desert for many cool drives in the future. Pictures coming in a few minutes.
Thank you for letting me share this story.

Great story. Visited there a few years ago day off from a cycling trip in Fallbrook. Treated me like royalty although just a tire kicker. Was flabbergasted by the level of detail. Fortunately the checkbook was back in NYS.

It just occurred to me that you should ask Mark to lock this post - you’ll soon be inundated with people telling you of the catastrophes awaiting you as a result of buying a 1,000 mile a year car. It’s exhausting.

Well done dad! I have twin 8-year-old boys and am working on similar memories with them. They love going for a ride in the 993. Hopefully, this will spark a passion I can share with them, even more when they get older and can drive. For now, they got a racing go-cart to tool around in.

GR looks perfect on widebody. Nice! You guys are going to have a great time with the car. Congrats! Keep the pics coming.
Does your son have any mods planned for the car?

A few pictures from this past Christmas drive with my son. Dawn Patrol shot has my Birch GT4 and now departed Irish Targa. Driveway shot is the aforementioned plus my Emory Speedster and Vanquish S.

All I can say is that your (very lucky) son has a very, very cool dad. Enjoy the car, your son, and the smiles.
