Yes, seriously. This is a problem that has afflicted not just Porsche but other marques including Ferrari. They need to crank out a batch of parts for the older cars, it isn't cost-effective to use the OEM manufacturers, so they head elsewhere. This is affecting all kinds of parts for cars of our era, and not just for Porsche. I would be shocked if the new RS uprights Porsche is selling were made in Germany or any western country.

No, it's really not. This is a real problem for owners of older cars. When our cars were new, or almost new, Porsche and its OEM suppliers were still making parts exactly as they came on our cars when new. At some point Porsche and the OEM's stop making them. The inventory sells out. Then people like us clamor for these parts to be available, and Porsche attempts to fill the need. Sometimes the parts are made to the same exacting standards as they were when our cars were new. Sometimes they are not, and often times the suppliers chosen do not make parts to OEM quality standards, because doing so would be cost prohibitive.

It's a well documented problem across many marques and merely questioning whether it applies to RS wheel carriers is not "starting an internet rumor."
