The Singer of the VW bug... Memminger

I had a bug many decades ago in high school- and recently bought a '67 sunroof, not "Singer" quality mods, but I'm doing conservative upgrades- alloy wheels, vintage momo steering wheel, put gauges in dash, etc.

The 1967 is a special year. Last year of the old style bumpers, first year of 12 volt system, last year of low back front seats and non-padded dash, first year of hooded headlights and the only VW bug to have a specific exterior door handle.

I actually found this old pic from probably 1973 (45 years ago!), taken by a good friend who is still a good friend. I googled, and the location (50 miles away) is still the same, so this spring we're gonna try and recreate the photo with the now-old me and my new '67 bug that looks a lot like my old '61!

The Memminger reminds me of the kits I would see in the 70's era Sears Automotive circulars for modifying a Beetle.
I remember seeing a Rolls style hood, rumble seat look rear with back mounted tire, etc. etc.

Hmmmm, real exhaust pipes, a real gauge, a real shifter not a Braun miniature shaver... seems that Porsche designers could learn a thing or two from this company for the 992.2...

If a Beetle, I would go with this one: https://v8stealthbeetle.com/
By the way, I always wanted a split window beetle!

I lusted after this amazing Porsche-powered split-window bug, but thankfully it sold before I could decide how crazy I was.

@centerpunch Paul - That is quite a build! Is there much of a market for such a creation?
