Exclamation Moved to Continental Europe - Help with OIL !

Hi everybody, just moved my US spec Carrera 993 to Continental Europe and I'm having a hard time to get the right oil for the annual oil change that is around the corner.
Anyone could help with brands and qualities ?
Thanks

If Motul is available in your area, it was recommended to me by Tony Callas at Callas Rennsport. I use the Motul 4100 15w50, and have been very pleased with it. Low consumption at 70,000 miles, and drain plug appears spotless/residue free.

Continental Europe comprises of many countries. The temperature range and availability of specific oils would be more easier to ascertain if you were more specific about your location..

Porsche will sell You the right oil!
If Porsche states their 10-W60 is the right oil for a 993 that must be it!

Or are there other non factory supported opinions?

Was reading a German webpage and they pretty much concluded 0W-40 didn't matter what brand. it was on the www.pff.de site https://www.pff.de/index.php?thread/...die-hunderste/

Now are you in Sweden, Portugal or Greece? ( all continental) and everything inbetween.

Each to his own but a 0W-anything oil is the last thing to put in any air cooled Porsche engine!

HI and thanks for the quick answers.
I moved to Switzerland and car is garaged for ALL winter, will come out early April if no snow/salt on the roads.
Someone here has the distribution rights for DT50 so I may try that.
I see that both Motul and Mobil can be found for "motorcycle" engines on 15W-50 configurations.
Has anyone use them ?
The Porsche Classic 10-60 seems to get a lot of negativity and to be honest I will not go to Porsche for an oil change.
Thanks for all your help.

Well,
i would buy "any" 10W-40 oder 5W-40 if you do not track your car. if you track it, use 10W-60. I do this so with my both 964. The convertible 10W-40 and the track-car 10W-60. How far are you away from the german border? In germany, there is a frinchaise wash-station "mr wash" and they have a sub-brand "mr-oil". There, you can do a complete oil-change for 30,-/50,- or 60,-€ depending on your oil-choise include everything and you can wait for this (30min over all). It is quite common in germany to go there with the "hobby car" and do a anual oil-change there... they have shell oils...

Railmaster, I know. I was more astonished at the " it doesn't really matter" attitude in that thread. I guess I should I have used some smilies to show I was not serious.

Thanks to all.

Everyone seems to kind of agree with 15W50, when the car was in the US I was using Mobil 1 15W50,

Any comments about Motul 300V 15W50?
LiquiMoli 15W50 ?
Motul 4100 Power 15W50 ?
Mobil 1 Racing 4T 15W50 (for motos but it is a 15W50) ?

What about the ZDDP levels? Are they high enough for a 993?

Thanks Nolan.
I change the oil every year irrespective of the mileage.
Also my car has very low mileage and I do no more than 1000-1500 miles per year.
Will you go for the Motul 300V or the 4100 ?
Regards
