Default HELP! Locked Out of Car!

Hi Everybody,

The drivers side door lever is "stuck" - it won't move (even after a thorough soaking of lubricant).

I have the key & key fob, can insert key into door to lock/unlock but still no movement on the trigger pull.

Passenger side trigger pull broke about 5 years ago. Of course I bought a replacement but it's still on my work bench waiting to be installed...

Please don't add insult to injury here. How can I get into the car?

Brandon

If everything else fails, remove a side window, should be possible to do from the outside with one of those vacuum handles that glass fitters have and that sucks itself onto the glass!

Default Disaster Averted

I was prepared to break the window (thanks railmaster) when I decided to just muscle the trigger pull really hard (this is how I broke the passenger side).

The door popped open and the trigger pull did not break. I rolled down the window to ensure I could get in the car this evening to drive home from work.

Thankfully I bought two replacement trigger pulls - looks like I have at least half a day of next week's vacation planned out...

Good that it all worked out as any air cooled 911 is not easy to break into.

It would be nice to hear the root cause of the issue; could you please post once you know?

On my old Mk2 GTI it was wise to clean and lube the handles every year or two. What is the recommendation on the 993? My passenger trigger needs some attention.

My car is a year-round driver in eastern Pennsylvania. I remove and lube both trigger mechanisms every 18 months to avoid "sticky" or truly stuck triggers. I wire brush any corrosion from the two attachment studs for each door handle, lube them and replace, as needed, the nuts used on those studs. Usually every other time I replace the pad/gasket under each handle too.

Could you please post a DIY next time?
