Suspension Setup Choice
 

Hi All. Working on a new suspension set up, choosing between Elephant Racing and Rennline.

Basic Parts List:
Front Tie Rod w/Bump Steer
Rear Toe, Camber, and Kinematic Control Arms
Rear Subframe Bushings
RSR-Style Inner Tie Rod
Rear Drop Links
Front Drop Links
Front / Rear Sway Bars
Monoball Set
Steering Reinforcement
Coilover Set (Von or KW) as BilstienPSS10's are on backorder

Leaning towards rennline because of the price, its almost a $4k savings.

Thoughts on the choices between Rennline and Elephant?
Am I missing anything else?

Don't forget about ERP. I got a similar setup (see sig) from Joey Seely at Emotion engineering consisting of ERP and Tarret parts and a spring upgrade to my KW's. Worth giving him a call. The setup is unreal! He will supply KW settings and alignment settings as well.

When I was at Rennsport I looked at the AST line of coilovers made by Moton.
For a street / track setup they look like a good option. Haven't heard any real world feedback yet though.
They cost $2500 for the 5100 series which has 11 rebound settings.

You may want to consider a set of RS wheel carriers, which are now again available and forget about any bump steer mods...

my suggestion would be to put it all together and see if rennline will provide a larger package discount.
that is a lot of money in one go.

one note on the subframe bushings if you are going solid.
the oem rubber bushing is 10mm thick between the tub and subframe.
the solid bushings used to be all flat deleting the 10mm space where the rubber was.
elephant's version and erp's are still flat, when installed the subframe moves 10mm up into the tub.
or put another way, the chassis drops 10mm lower. since the engine is mounted to the chassis all that weight is lower.
rennline changed this about 5yrs ago so now their solid bushings are the same dimensions as oem.
you can see the difference when comparing rennline's tilt kit vs standard solid.
you need to decide if you want that 10mm in place(rennline) or deleted(elephant, erp) or the tilt kit.

on my street car I have the old rennline flat bushings and find it annoying for ride height and tire clearance issues.
I finally got around to ordering their new version so I can get the rear end where I want it.
my track car has the tilt kit and I am happy with that setup.

Wouldn't you just make up for this 10mm height difference in the coilover adjustment?

correct, but in this case pss10s are installed and the spring collar is at the top of the range from bilstein instructions.
next option would be switch to longer springs.
but that is a band-aid for a problem I created by installing flat subframe bushings.
by adding back the 10mm my car will gain forward rake, that will allow me to raise the front which is currently too low.
and get the rear end geometry back to the way it was designed for a street car.

that looks good.
the flat subframe bushings would help run it that low.
rennline might have some of the flat version around for a discounted price.
you'd also have to run more negative camber than normal for street to fit tires/wheels that large.
not a big deal with turn buckle style arms from rennline or others.
the big issue with the tight fender clearance is using stiff springs to limit wheel travel, makes for an uncomfortable street ride.

If you're going that low, the RS wheel carriers I previously mentioned would be a definite plus to your setup.

I went with Rennline and am quite happy with the installation process, for the coilovers I chose the AST 5100 and with their upper mounts and was quite impressed with the quality of the kit. They're produced in the Netherlands along with Motons and right out of the box you can tell the build quality is something they take very serious, you can also pick custom spring rates and they'll build the setup around your requirements.

Replacing the carriers is something you'll definitely want to do at that ride height, however I'd say to look into the BBi Uprights over the RS as they raise the shock mount up a bit more which is nice addition for a lower ride height as the one pictured.

I moved the rear collars as high as the bilstein instructions allow, then set the front to have zero forward rake.
ride height is 125F 115R. not bad but I would prefer higher.
hopefully the 10mm larger subframe bushings will allow me to raise the front to 133 pulling the back up to 119 and end up with .3 degrees forward rake.
close to row sport height.
you could also go beyond bilstein instruction limits to get more height.

I am in a similar boat. Currently have pss10. I am planning to refresh the rest of the suspension including solid subframe mounts and RS wheel carriers. I bought the Rennline solid subframe mounts thinking they would lower the rear 10mm. Maybe we could work something out as I want to run a low ride height.

Pss10s are *still* on backorder? Sheesh.
