Default I'm stumped...any ideas?

So I was just looking in some nooks and crannies of a '95 C2 I bought recently and I found this in the storage compartment of the driver-side door.

Any ideas? Sorry I didn't add something to the photo to provide scale but I'd say it's about eight inches top to bottom.

I feel kind of silly not having a clue and I just don't want to believe it's a primitive cup holder.

Cup holder. Attaches to the passenger seat slider.

Thank you. I thought it had to be more complicated than that. :-)

I have one - they are great. That's a $75 or $80 surprise if I remember correctly.

If you're looking to get rid of it, I'll take it!

Greg-

Thanks. I ended up getting a 2-cup holder that installs in place of the cassette holder. Works ok but a little bit of a weird reach, so was curious where this one went.
Funny, when I first saw the picture Doug posted i thought it might have been the Iphone holder you told me about last year that adapts to the clock bezel (which works great, BTW).

I have on my car, it was at least $50 IIRC. it is nice as it is large enough to hold some of the bigger cups. It does slightly interfere with passenger legs, depending on how they sit. I rarely have passengers, so it works great for me.

Jay, I swapped my cassette holder also, but the cup holder replacement isn't that great. Like you said, it's in an awkward position & they don't hold drinks/bottles very well.
The seat rail holder is a little better. It's deeper, so drinks don't fall over as easy & it's easier to access.

I've used this one on my 540i6 e39 for 10+ years. It also fits the 993. Any accidents spill on the floor, better than the console.
