Default Can you help me identify this rubber boot?

It's located in front of, and on top of the fan. I just noticed it's ripped. From age? The car is a '96 C4S with 33k miles on it.

1. What is this part called? Make me sound intelligent when I approach the parts counter.
2. Can you point me in the direction of a part number?
3. I will replace it myself, but have no idea yet how to remove it. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks in advance!

super common! they all fail. you can operate without fixing it but its not expensive and it is easy to replace... there are two versions for the 993 - depending on your build date be sure to get the correct one.... I don't have part number handy but others can no doubt point you in the right direction

Air duct for cooling fan part no. 993.106.403.00. Common failure point, they dry up and become brittle and crumble. Replace it as soon as possible as you don't want all those crumbled pieces laying on top of your engine block and cylinders.

What Stace said is correct. 1995 pre-varioram engines had a different one.

The part is ordered! I'm paying a little more, but supporting my local dealership. Let's hope the karma comes back my way some day!
