Question New suspension- advice needed

'98 C2S, 31k miles. Suspension needs replacing, which, apparently according to the Archives, is not unusual for this age/mileage car. What route should I go? Car has 18" wheels that produce a somewhat harsh ride...(could this be from bad shocks?).. I don't track the car, and would like to aim for improving the ride quality on both highway travel and poorly-maintained urban streets. Thanks for any advice.

A good place to start is Robin's suspension FAQ , as it has input from all of us who have tried different setups. I have 18", which will give a slightly harsher ride than 17". Worn shocks, especially if you drive poorly maintained roads, will give an even harsher ride in a straight line, and mushy inability to hold a set in a corner. I love my setup for the street, and spirited back road driving, but the downside is taking all driveways and dips at an angle and low speed, due to aprox 1" lowering. Suspension should be addressed as a system, ie shocks sway bars and springs, not just a change of individual components one at a time.

Take a look at the top of this page, in the right corner.

There you will find the word "search". It is your friend. Using it, you will find at least 3000 threads on this very question.

Drop your tire pressures from 36F/44R to 32-34F / 36-38R. It will make a world of difference in the ride and handling.
