Cool Goodbye BMW, Hello Porsche

Hello everyone,

My name is Pablo and I am a proud new owner of a gem of a car, my "new to me" 993 Turbo. The car has 15,100 miles and is black on black. It spent all it's life in GA with one owner. I come from an extensive BMW history, and always thought Porsche was out of my reach, until I decided to trade my 2 BMW's towards this. I had owned an E39 M5 for close to 10 years, and let me tell you that this car is as bulletproof and reliable (if you maintain) as they come. I just couldn't justify continuing to spend on maintenance knowing this car had 155k miles, and with this mileage wasn't going to appreciate in value like a low mileage example would. I also traded an F80 M3, which was fast and "cool", but extremely cheaply made and feeling. 100mph was not confidence inspiring in this car, and that was a major concern. With this being said, and considering the fact I wanted to invest in a collector's car, the 993 was the first and only choice I made. I had always lusted after these cars, especially after the scene in the Bad Boys movie . That I'm blessed is an understatement. My plan is to enjoy every second spent in this car. I hope to make it out to some PCA NE events in the near future, and meet some of the wonderful owners on this forum!

Welcome and enjoy the car. Watch out for the slope, it’s already well greased.

e39 m5 is a modern classic... a big part of what made bmw so successful

too bad the company lost their way so badly for enthusiasts since the e46 and e9x series... saddening and frustrating for those of us who loved the earlier, good bimmers

993 tt can be daily driven, but perhaps a bit 'wasted' used as a dd, esp with low miles - but then again, life is short, we should all enjoy what we can when we can - congrats!

I completely agree with you!! I had the pleasure of owning an E36 M3, S52 ZM coupe, E46 M3, and E39 M5. All of these were stellar driving machines, simple, to the point, driving pleasure. I plan to garage the 993 and use it occasionally for weekend road trips. Thank you all!

Beautiful car. 15,100 miles for this car is somewhat of an injustice to what it was designed for so I hope you use and enjoy it for what it was intended for. Not saying to run them up significantly by any means, but go have some fun

Beautiful car, congratulations on your purchase! Enjoy in good health!

Also, not sure how to say this without sounding like a smart-***, but many people mistaken the 964 3.6 turbo in bad boys for a 993 turbo. Im guilty of it as well.

Gorgeous car, congrats! Having lived in NYC many moons ago, I can’t imagine what insurance must cost.

I didn't take it as if he thought the Bad Boys car Was in fact a 993TT. When he said, " These cars", I just assumed he meant that that movie is what got him interested in Porsche 911 Turbos in general, and the 993 was the next generation of the 964, he just went with the next latest and greatest thing after that movie.

I loved that scene / car as well, but I have always thought the 993TT to be my favorite styling of Turbo to date. Maybe he did too.

Maybe the OP will clear that up for us....
