New to me 1996 C2
After 6 months of searching, I finally pulled the trigger on my first Porsche. I have always loved the 911, especially the 993s, the sound and looks couldn't be replicated in anything else, just enough old vs new world for me. I almost gave up looking because prices were getting out of hand, found this one on co-signment at a Porsche dealership, seller had owned it for the last 11 years, kept good records and car was in good shape. I was looking for a driver, didn't have to be perfect. It had some TechArt parts on there (exhaust, rear spoiler, front splitters), also had 18" hollow spokes, PSS10, and was in the right color combo (all my cars black)
He was asking more than I wanted to pay for it, I made him and offer and he declined. I had moved on to look at other cars. About 3 months later, I get an email from the dealer asking me if I was still interested, the seller was motivated to sell because his registration and insurance was coming up and he didn't want to pay to renew it. I made him the same offer and he accepted.
Had a PPI done and there were a few things to address, but nothing out of the ordinary or major. Clean title, no accidents. Completed the transaction and had the car transported back to CA.
First thing I want to do is address some of the things on that PPI - rear brake light has bulbs out, replace worn bushings and links, replace tires, and then give this thing a good paint correction and interior detail.
All the fluids were changed and flushed just a few months ago (oil, brake, and transmission), a new battery replaced one month ago. What do you guys recommend I address next??? The car has 80k on it.

First of all congratulations!
I strongly recomed LED lights for all extermal lights except front fog lights and head lights.
Buy them from BergvillFX , lots of info about them if You search here! BergvillFX also offer a higly recomended HID headlight kit.

Congrats, beautiful car. Sounds like car was well taken care of ie. suspension, bushings, fluids. I suggest you review maintenance records, and address things the PO may have deferred. Otherwise your next major service will come up at 90k miles. Enjoy it!

There are lots of things to consider. One that you may want to look at are the vacuum actuators on the engine. If they are original one or more are leaking and you may want to consider replacing all 4 in the engine compartment. Replacing leaking actuators on the Varioram Manifold will improve performance in a way you can feel. You can check to see if any of them have already been replaced as the replacement ones have clear diaphragms attached to the plunger rod versus the original black ones. The replacement ones seem to be made of a more durable material.

Congrats!! Very nice looking car with some good mods. Clearly owned by an enthusiast. Do I spot Walrod trim rings on the gauges? If so, likely PO was a rennlister.

Took it out for a drive today, the PSS10 was really good, I had KW V3 on my 05 NSX and it was really good, but I think these are just as good for the street. Don't know what setting they are on now, I'll play around with settings to see where I like it the best.
Compared to my NA NSX, it feels about the same as for acceleration, the NSX seat position is lower, and visibility was a bit better, but driving the 993 is a different experience. Need more seat time to see what I like better.
definitely need a better steering wheel and shifter set up, maybe some Pole Positions to go along with that.

I also have a 96 C2 with PSS9's, hollows....no body mods however. I would prioritize the suspension if required. The Golden rod/SSK is a very nice and comparitively inexpensive modification to enhance the 993's driving experience. Personally, I came from older school 911's and found that "out of the box" 993's were a little too soft for me. My car as it stands right now has Walrods, RS mounts, and the RS clutch and flywheel. Coupled with the Bilsteins and GR/SSK to me, she's now a hoot to drive! This weekend I drove 500 miles on a mountainous twisty/turny road and she seems completely suited for the task.....a lot of fun! Good luck with her....they are great cars!
