Here's a weird one ... I have noticed the last three times I've driven my 95 C4 that I can hear a faint but distinct electronic-like ringing noise from the back of the car. It's two tones, low first, then high, almost like a muffled cell phone ringing once. (The first time I noticed it I had valet parked the car, and literally dug around under the seats to see if the valet had dropped his phone.)

It happens occasionally, only lasts for a couple of seconds and doesn't seem to be related to anything specific the car is doing, although I haven' t heard it at idle, yet (it's been snowy in Boston and I only exercise the car 2-3 times a month). Radio was not on.

Am I nuts? Has anyone heard this sound before?

Does this happen during a cold start up? How long does it last for?

Try it with the engine completely cold and let me know.

I sometimes hear strange electronica tones as well, though they're longer-lasting than a ringtone and change frequency. Is my car haunted?

Mark, it happens constantly, warm or cold engine.

Glad to hear someone else is hearing them, too ... I thought I was losing my mind!
