Default DE weekend: Brake pad thickness?

I'm trying to determine if I should replace the pads prior to my DE weekend next month. The tech inspection says you must have 50% lining, but it doesn't give a thickness in millimeters.

I've got about 8mm front:

And I have about 9mm in the rear:

Is this enough material to pass tech inspection?

Race pads (Pagid) are usually 13-14 mm in thickness new, so you are at ~60%, which should last for the DE. Just make sure you still have enough brake pad left to drive home.

It depends on what track you're running and how hard you are on brakes but my rule of thumb is that the pad thickness should be more than the backing plate thickness. Anything less and you're going to transfer a bunch of heat to your brake fluid.

New OE pads are 11mm front and 12mm rear. You're good! Go have fun!

I’ve been instructing for over 10+ years and I’ve seen more times than not that students think there is enough meat for the weekend and wind up losing track time due to lack of pad. This may not be the case with you, but it doesn’t hurt to bring a new set in case you need them. Just my two cents.

Buy replacements. Bring them with you. You will need them eventually, no fun to go home (or worse) if you use them up while DEing.

More important, fresh high temp brake fluid. Have fun be safe.

Be prepared and bring the new set of pads to rhe track. You need them soon anyway. Monitor the wear and make an asessment after day 1 of ou want to swap them for day 2. You should find folks on the track that have tools and skills to change them if you don not. And bleed the brakes with a good fluid. ATE Gold / 200 should be fine if you do not want to win the DE. I never had an issue with this fluid but keep it always fresh. HAve fun and stay safe!
