Default 993 - One door does not unlock - immoblizer - lock / unlock issue

I know there are lots of threads on 99 3 immobilizer and lock / unlock issues, but I can't seem to find one on point. My immobilizer unlocks the passenger side door with the normal solid sounding "clunck", but there is only a faint hint of a "click" on the driver door, and it does not unlock. The car starts fine, etc. When I lock / unlock the car from inside with the console toggle, I get the same result - the normal solid sound "clunk" from the passenger door lock, but only a faint click on the drivers side. Any help would be appreciated!

There’s a door lock actuator (solenoid basically) that has probably given up the ghost. Fairly easy to access by taking the door panel off and the plastic vapor barrier. I did both mine (same issue as yours) a few years ago. I figured the other one was just a matter of time. You don’t have an immobilizer issue just a simple mechanical one.

Took the opportunity to remove the crap sound deadening material that has certainly fallen off the door skin and is laying in the bottom of your door soaking up moisture. Replaced w Dynamat and sprayed Waxoyl corrosion preventative everywhere. Door interior was corrosion free and like new.

Your welcome. I don’t remember any hiccups w this repair. I think I ordered the actuator rod clips just to be safe. Parts are easy to find in the PET. The PITA is removing all the door cover and hardware. I also spent some time getting to and lubing all the window pivot points and slides.

DB’s symptoms point towards a bad actuator is all. Very simple fix.

I agree, I had the exact same thing happen last summer... popped a new actuator in and all was well.

The fact that one door actuates and the other one doesn't; tells you that it's an actuator issue and not an immobilizer/alarm/fob, issue.
