Default Flat out at autobahn.

Took my -94 Carrera to Germany for a trip to Nürburgring and drove in 130 mph on the autobahn, or actually faster, but as we say: Pic or it didn't happen! The tacho shows moore but I clocked it at 130 mph!

It's so nice that we still have some roads without speed limits! Or as the Germans say: Free speed for a free people! 😀

Yeah! My last job took me to Heidelberg (1 hour south of Frankfurt) on a monthly basis. Always looked forward to renting a "big car" and cruise it on the autobahn. The 2.0L turbo diesels in the 320i and the A6 were so smooth and effortless at 120. There was always drivers in a S class, 7 series, or Porsche who would go flying by in the fast lane!

Got back from a fun month in Europe to a half dozen speeding tickets.

Best fun fines ever paid.

I worked with a bunch of German engineers and I got first hand how "precise" their culture is. The speed limit is really the limit... Not a single kph over. You could easily tell on the autobahn when it was no speed limit to controlled areas where there was. Good thing everyone follows it so traffic flows nicely and no one going fast or slow but just what the limit says in the cruising lanes. Watch out when you exit into the any urban area, there is photo radar everywhere and the speed reduction is significant.

I too had a few speed tickets on my first trip over. Google maps and the in-car GPS became my friends on subsequent trips.

Picked up my wife's M2 in Munich and we spent two weeks driving in Europe. We even hit the Nuremberg Ring and each did a lap. Amazing times.

Awesome, not many get to experience that and document it.

A while ago I rented a BMW 5 in Austria and did the autobahn south...flat out at 132mph it would not go any faster with me and the wife. Great experience but to have your own car....AWAOME...Thanks for sharing.

I took my 993 to Germany last month from the UK for the Porsche show at Dinslaken, travelling with ten 997s. Even with 128,000 miles on the clock and no engine rebuild it happily cruised at an indicated 120mph (no photosto prove it as I was driving solo). The rest of them were surprised how well it kept up - I reminded them it was THE supercar in its day.

The key to driving sustained high speed is having the geometry in first class condition.

The key with the 993 though is that its almost as much fun cruising along at 70 - which I did on the way back when I left the others
