Default Turns out exhaust is modified - what is to be done?

Hey guys, I stopped by Darin Fister’s for a Golden Rod install, and he spotted some welds on my muffler that explain the strange and vague loudness.

I would have gotten the Fister stage 2 if I could, but there’s a waitlist right now.

What is to be done? I’m sure there have been endless discussions about exhaust options. Should I start with a stock exhaust?

You are fortunate to be so close to be able to just stop by FD.

My advice would be to just give him your car and tell him to do whatever he suggests. Really, I've never been disappointed with anything he supplies. The modified mufflers (I've bought three sets) SSK, and Golden Rod are most enjoyable!

Really worth the wait - totally.

Regards,

.

I had the same thing happen to me when I went in for a Fister 2 exhaust. Original option sticker listed my C2S with the Motorsound exhaust option - Darren can apparently modify that stock option to a Fister 2+. Turns out prior owner had Frankensteined it already with something else. I took the mufflers off and went with a Ceramic Fister 2. Agreed on waiting for the proper Fisters

Do you see the strange scars on both mufflers, right and left?
Was it kind'a one of those alien abduction things where someone slipped into your garage at night and took your car and violated its exhaust system while you were sleeping?
Food for thought:

Where the mufflers modified internally? Did the car pass smog? The areas around the welds don't appear to have been damaged by an object (i.e. running over something).

Both have been modified, and it passed smog last year, before I bought it.

Does anyone have an opinion on or any experience with the non-OEM Dansk mufflers sold by Pelican? Sadly, they can’t be converted by Darin Fister if I decide to have more sound.

shop for stock cans and put them on the car, while you leave the existing cans with FD for slicing open and modifying.
you'll probably want stock cans eventually anyway

Thanks everyone, I ordered a set of used Bischoffs on eBay. I'll install them, see how stock sounds (it's a cab after all) and then send them in for a Fister II upgrade if they're too tame.

How do You like the sound of Your mufflers as they where when You bought the car? Do they sound good? What is the problem? You found out You had modified mufflers which upsets You because YOU wants to modify them (just like the previous owner did)?!

I dislike the sound of my current mufflers. It's a howling deep sound that makes my ears ring.

FWIW, mufflers won't affect smog. They control sound. Emissions are controlled by the cat.

These look vaguely like a RSR modification may have been done...

Hey guys. No, his mufflers are not RSRs. They are modified I believe by another shop that doesn't know what they are doing. I have seen these before. The inside is not pretty and don't they seem to know much about exhaust flow.
I can turn these into Stage IIIs, no problem, but with the hacked interior, they are no bueno for Stage IIs. Taking them in as a trade will be tough because who would want to get a set of my mufflers that look like Frankenstein cans when I rebuild them?
As for the waiting list, this is only for core exchanges. NO WAITING if you send your cans in for direct modification.
I have been shipping these all over the world and it never seems to slow down, so my cores are constantly traveling the globe. Sorry for the inconvenience on the core exchanges, it is just the nature of the business with good 993 cores getting harder to find.
If anyone has any they would like to sell, please let me know: Darin@fdmotorsports.net.
