FS: Distributor Bearings
Hey all,
I have three brand-new angular contact bearings for a 993 distributor that I didn't use on a recent distributor rebuild. The bearings are angular contact ball bearings type 7201-B-2RS-TVP with dimensions d=12mm, D=32 mm and height of 10mm. Because the diameter from the primary as well as the secondary shaft is 12.44 mm the inner diameter of the bearing has to be ground out from 12 to 12.45 mm. These bearings are already machined and would be ideal for anyone doing a distributor rebuild. Porsche doesn't make these anymore so they are expensive and hard to find, I bought these from a fellow in Germany but didn't end up needing them. I paid $189 for them brand new, I'd like to get $100 but feel free to make an offer! Thanks in advance. Here's a really great DIY for distributor rebuild. It also has the contact info of the person i bought the bearings from. I can provide receipt with date of purchase at your request. http://www.hd-electronics.nl/Hobby/r...rdeler_993.pdf |
You may want to contact Mark Cohen (770.365.1601) of Powder Springs, GA or Steve Weiner at Rennsport Systems who regularly service 993 distributors and may have an interest in the parts you have. Very few car owners are willing to crack open and service a distributor due to the number of unique hard to source small parts that may need replacing and the risk/reward issues vs sending one out to rebuild.

Thanks Andy, will do! After attempting this myself, I can see why people send them away!

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...2d2b918aa9.jpg I managed to buy this kit from a fellow rennlister, who sold his car before he had a chance to install the kit. I paid $120 shipped, for all of the correct size bearings, belt and pin. The next time I put my car up on stands, I will probably pull the distributors and refresh the components within. I don't believe you have to be a professional to accomplish this job, but you better be familiar with hand tools, a press, and a drill press. The job would be easily accomplished by a few guys here on Rennlist, like Andreas (AOW), and a few others who currently slip my mind... |
I am interested in these if still available.
Thanks.

I managed to buy this kit from a fellow rennlister... The Z indicates the bearing is for grease lubrication. You want the one without the Z which has oiling holes. |

It looks like the supplier who I believe was Didi, sold the wrong bearing, the needle/ball next to the drive gear. I would know as I corrected him on the difference between an NX 12-XL and the NX 12-Z-XL.
The Z indicates the bearing is for grease lubrication. You want the one without the Z which has oiling holes. So this kit contains the wrong bearing mentioned (NX 12-Z-XL), yes? TIA, Paul |

Alex,
So this kit contains the wrong bearing mentioned (NX 12-Z-XL), yes? TIA, Paul I have pics of both NX12 bearings on my SmugMug site and it describes the difference. You can also Google INA NX 12-Z-XL and the INA site will state "Grease Lubrication". You can do the same for the INA NX 12-XL and the INA site will state for "Oil Lubrication". |
