991.2 GTS to 993

Drive one first. The only down side is losing the power and creature comforts. The 993 is slow compared to a GTS. Don't know how much you like speed as a requirement. Had 997s and sold it. Bought a 997 GT3 and love it. Wanted a second 911 and got a 993c4s. Totally different car. Want a 964 next, but waiting for the right one while saving up. I get thumbs up from young and older car enthusiasts daily while driving either car. I will say that the 993 being slower sticks like glue around corners. Literally almost defies the law of physics. So while it's significantly slower I do not have to brake as much. Any air cooled 911 is an experience. It can't be duplicated with current 911's. The smell of old leather, oil, and slight hint of gas when you get inside. While the current 911 is an amazingly beautiful car, it is missing the driver experience. You need to be going warp speed to feel why it's a sports car. The old 911's feel like that at like 60mph. You can enjoy the driving experience while not risking your license. Don't expect to beat most modern cars from a stop light. I would be lucky to beat a modern Camry. So just know that going in. If you have the budget get a 993 Turbo. You will get speed and the vintage 911 characteristics.

I think getting beat by a Camry is overplaying it a bit . While not as fast as a 997, it is no slouch. Driven back to back against a 997C4S last year I could feel the difference but I didn't miss the difference if that makes sense?
When we'd both put the hammer down, the 997 had a hard time keeping up. It was a little faster on the throttle but slower in the corners. The biggest difference I noticed in terms of power was that it had more going on down low. The 993 needed to rev higher but once in the upper revs it felt just as good and overall the acceleration was more exciting since it was less linear.
Hope that helps.
