Default Track temps

Driving hard, 85+ degree ambient, what track temps do you see, or needle position on the temp gauge? Assuming stock cooling.

This wasn’t 85°, more like 65°. But even over 85-90°, it rarely gets above 9 o-clock, and has never got to the 10 o-clock point.

You need a second cooler. You're not getting out of this, sonny.

Lol. Oh I'm converted. Waiting for backordered stuff.

But raises Q, assuming stock, what should it be? Q behind Q is trying to make sure my stock one is working properly.

Indianapolis in August. Ambient temp definitely in the 80s. As the temp would approach 10:00 (see pic), I would always just back off before then and cruise around in 4th or 5th for a lap until the temp went down. This is a track with 5th gear straights into 2nd gear turns, so it gives the engine a workout.

NorCal in August at mid day. Ambient probably between 75-80 at this time (on it's way to 100F, I'm sure). You can see the temp is a 9:00 but doesn't quite creep up to 10:00. I think the track/gearing has a big impact. The 2-3-4-5-2 nature of IMS seemed harsher than the usual 3-4-3-4 of Thunderhill.
If I was still tracking my 993, I would certainly upgrade the cooling. It's a bummer to have to back off mid session when you're in the zone.

Never passes 9 oClock in the hottest days at Thunderhill. Would see 10 oClock+ before oil cooler.

Didn't we already cover this with you?

Used to reach close to the top mark (not all the way red by the mark before). With AUX cooler it’s pegged at 9 0’clock even on slower tracks where I’m pushing in second gear. I just taped by inlets for last weekend cuz it was a bit too cool.
My AUX cooler might go on sale in short order if you are interested. I have plug and play unit from Gert that works with AC. Install was a breeze.
You have my cell.

Marin yes. I'm convinced. Units are on backorder. But Q came up if my stock was functioning at peak efficiency also. If others were saying pre cooler they never reached 10, then I'd have some fixing to do in addition to AuX. Thats all I meant.

Another vote for Gerd's unit. Dropped the temps in my car in Texas heat significantly. Steve Weiner mentioned to me in a note that he thought about offering a kit. You may check with him him on status.

It's hard to remember specifics but w/ only the single stock cooler temps were uncomfortably high, Gerts full sized second cooler kit solved the problem nicely, I'd avoid the kits that use the smaller 993T/S cooler

I made my own unit similar to Gerts I put the cooler behind the a/c condenser so it doesn't pre heat it. I also put a 180 thermostat in between the stock cooler and the aux unit. During normal driving you run off the first cooler. Under 100 degree days of even stop and go driving it may get to 9:00. I also took out fog lights and put in scoops. Setup works great.

+1 on the Factory kit that Gert sells, I have never seen high temps ever, and my engine is far from stock

Anyone happen to have a new cooler they aren't using? Backordered for months now.
