The Last of the Analog Porsche’s (PCA)
Cool article in this month’s PCA’s Panorama. Here’s a link to the article and a video behind the scenes. Not a terribly in depth article, and the wheels on the 993 are just wrong IMHO, but the closing sentence nails it, “They represent the last Porsche super-cars that required a superlative driver to get anything approaching the most of them.” https://www.pca.org/news/analog

I'm pretty sure the early base 996 C2s also had no driver aides (excluding ABS) and mechanical throttle linkage. At this point, we're splitting hairs.
All I got out of that video is that I really want a 968.

If mechanical VS electronic throttle linkage the deal breaker, then the 2005 Mk 2 GT3 is out. I suggest that the defining parameter is CAN bus electronics. This DQs the 2000 and later 996 cars, including the GT3

I know where a primo 968 is for sale in San Luis Obispo, CA.? It is owned and has been maintained by a top notch Porsche mechanic. PM me and I'll put you in contact. I have driven it, sweet.

Oh yeah they did and it's wonderful. The "gods" have allowed me to have a 2004 MkII GT3. Read about the model in the attached pdf. In addition to all the incredible performance features, they are few and far between...maybe 1,500 in the N. American market. on top of all that, there were about 30 in Carrera White in 03, 04 and 05. 2004 was the biggest production year.

Martin, can you left foot brake in a 6GT3 and not have the throttle cut out? My '05 997 suffered from the cut out; hated it.
Strangely, my Macan GTS allows full LFBing with no cut out. Audi SQ5 is saddled with it.

A possible reason why the GT3 Mark I was not considered is that to many the GT3 is a race car and that, in theory, is a car most can’t get, or want. That being said I have driven lots of different “analog” Porsche’s and found the 993 to be the easiest to drive fast and smooth.
