Broken Clutch Fork Ear/Boss
The clutch fork ear/boss on my 993 recently failed and was wondering if anyone has experienced this and how they went about fixing it. My 993 is a 96' and it used to be a C4S until it was converted to RWD by deleting the front wheel drive components. Perhaps someone might know why it happened in the first place?
My three solutions are either:
-Replace the bell housing (would be like OEM but costly, issue might happen again)
-Have someone reweld a new boss and machine new holes for it (welding new bosses might change the metallurgy of it unlike the next option)
-Have this company install new replaceable bosses for $350 (most preferable, possibly stronger than OEM)

Regardless of the scenario, the bell housing will have to come off unfortunately.

I had something similar happen on my 87 911. I don't think it was unusual on the G50 Carrera due to cross shaft bearings. I had the broken piece and a local porsche shop welded it back together and line bored. I had it for many years after and quite a bit of track time, clutch replacement, and no issues. I think it can be welded even if you don't have the piece. I saw examples of that when research the G50 issue.
Here's thread on pelican for similar issue on G50. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...-g50-case.html

How common is this problem?

I think thats why Porsche have modified the fork and shaft bearings. The old style were very prone to picking up all the muck and then more and more effort was required to move them. How old was your setup?
