The owners manual recommended 2.5 and 3 which is what I have always used.
Has anybody used the Porsche classic shocks?
I thought hard on getting PSS10S but I have no use for the adjustments and figured it was overkill for my requirements although if that is what it takes to have a good ride so be it.

PSS10 may be overkill for your needs, but if you're going to shell out all that $$$ for Porsche classic shocks, you're better off with PSS10s.

Might want to check with Darin @ FD Motorsports, https://fdmotorsports.net for general information. IIR, the recommended setting (PSS10) was something like 4&6 on the dampers. I found that too harsh as I don't do very aggressive driving. Found that the front setting was too stiff so I backed it off to 1 and set the rear at 4. Seems to be closer to stock ride but the MO33 spring may be more stiff than OEM/USA. Of course, I'm no expert on suspension........

Any one with experience in lowering the spring preload by lowering the bottom spring support? That should theoretically soften the ride.

Mac, tires have changed in the past 20 years. I still recommend trying lower tire pressures. Easy to do and free.

That will only lower the ride height, It will not soften the ride.
Also, make sure you're reading the correct row on your car's tire pressure sticker. On my car, it lists 2.5 / 36psi front and rear for 17" tires. It also lists a higher pressure, but not for 17s.

Yes, I have them on my (now) street 993. I agree they offer much better (adjustable) performance, but if someone is looking for COMFORT, this is not that. No point in getting Pss10 to run in the softest setting and still be disappointed.

Agreed, in my experience, they are harsh on bad roads.

Otherwise, pretty good at less than 1/2 the cost of PSS10.

And neither option is anywhere near as comfortable as my old Mercedes. It's just a different kind of car.
Yup, PSS10 even softest, if not the answer this particular use case.

Exactly, only the 18's have the (absurdly) high rear pressures.

17's run 36 all around, and that's what I would try on the 16's - maybe even a few pounds lower to see if it rides to more to your satisfaction. Give it a try and report back!

Cheers

+1 , The recomended tire pressure is specified for the car to be driven at maximum speed! If You drive like half of top speed You can lower the pressure!

Yes!

OP, what speed are your tires rated for?

I have the same setup with the swaybars and 18" rims, and I would add that the ride borders on too soft.

This and I haven't seen where OP has responded to age / brand / model of tire.

+1

I recently changed tires on a RS6 that were 10 years old. Ride was horrible before! After new pilot super sports the ride change was remarkable.

I played with pressures a lot a lot on mine and settled with 33 front and 37 rear on PS2 tires. Going over 35 front and 40 rear made things quite harsh.
