Another Wiring Mystery Thread
Found another surprise while I had the car on stands for an oil change. This was going to be a request for help identifying these wires hanging by the side of my transmission, but I just checked the wiring diagram and they are supposed to go to the back-up light switch. Only problem is that I have a Tip - which does not have a external switch located on the transmission.
Puzzling, - if all Tip harnesses have these unused appendages, it would seem the factory would have a professional way of tying them off - which this certainly wasn't!
My car did get the recall replacement harness before I bought it, I wonder if they only made one version for the recall and the installer was supposed to cut these off or secure?
Or, worse yet, what if my car was not supposed to have this harness and they somehow made it work? As I recall the swap was done at an indi shop, not a dealer.
Thoughts?
(Sorry about the huge photos - that's how they ended up - using the new upload function)
