Amazon has Viair 85P for only $30. This is not a toy or a piece of box store/Harbor freight crap. This is a very good compressor that a number of autocross people use. Fast and quiet. No affiliation, but I do strongly recommend it. Thinking for picking one up myself, just because.
Need to make sure one does not plug it in to an accessory outlet on a newer car as they are generally not rated for 15 amps as they were never intended for use on a high amp draw device like a cigarette lighter heating coil.
This fits easily into the space for the spare tire?
It's not large, Mark. I think it'll fit fine. Comes in a bag that's fairly compact.
My only issue with it is that it has a straight air hose. I prefer a coiled hose of my MasterFlow MF-1040. Just looked it up... it's also only $32 on Amazon:
So, a toss-up between the two, both are great compressors and for the money, they can't be beat. MF-1040 is what I use on autocross car, so it gets a lot of usage almost every weekend.
Thanks, Mike. I have an excellent, battery-powered Campbell-Hausfeld in the frunk, and it's just a bit too thick to fit well. Will have to get this one.
FYI, this is made in China, so it may be on par with much of Harbor Freight's offerings.
I have the 85p and it works great. Also got a cigarette plug to 12 alligator clip adapter so you can just clamp on the battery. Fits perfectly with some other tools...

Mark, I've personally used it... it's not even close to HF offerings. It's actually a pretty sturdy and well-made unit, but I was referring more to airflow. This one is very fast, probably the fastest cigarette-lighter ones out there. My MF-1040 is on par, but a little slower, even. it's also pretty quiet for what it does.
I've been thinking of a battery powered inflator for autocross car. Any specific model of C-H?
