Default My c4s Touring story

Hi all,

First, this is an great forum and there is so much knowledge and nice people on here!

Im Anders, 35 years of age, from Norway, with inspireing winters and longly awaited summers.
After lurking the forum for quite a while I finally signed up and went to buy myself a 993. I've been wanting one for ages, and after a trip in a rental 991.2 c4 through the Swiss/German/Italian/Austrian alps this summer I just had to realize the feeling of owning and driving a 993, with the fantastic aircooled engine sound that comes with it.
Since I was young there has always been one of the modelcars in my collection that made its mark on my mind, and that was a 1:18 993 C2 in speed yellow from 1997. Long story short, I went out and bought a C4S in black and I've never looked back.

The car is a 1996 C4S, black on black with manual gears, sunroof, non-hifi, 8-way electrical seats, white gauges, turbo hollow spokes, Bilstein pss10, sports exhaust, HID's, and drives like a dream. Imported from US in 2010
It is not a prefect car, but I bought it to drive it and one of my many goals is to take it down to the alps and drive all the mountainpasses again, only with a more analogue feel and soul to it.

As I got the car for about three weeks ago I've been using alot of time polishing it as the paint needed a touchup. I've changed out the rear reflector for a new as the old one was beyond salvage.

On the to-do list there is:
*New doorselas R+L
*New gaskets outer doorhandles R+L
*New steeringwheel to get a more correct drivingangle on my arms for those inspirational drives
*Refurbishing the calipers
*New wiperarms + wipers
*New creast gasket
*Rescue the leather seats
*New radio with new speakers (oem look). Looking onto the Porche classic radio/satnav unit.
*New drl's matching my 6000k HID's
*New painted spoiler (too deep scratches to polish away)
*fix some minor dents and paint chips on the doors
*New ignitionkey
*New toolbag w/tools

*Maybe changing out the foglights with painted airducts without fogs
*Maybe changing out the black/grey crest on the hollowspokes with coloured ones
*Maybe changing out the exhaust tips if they are not oem c4s exhausttips. comments on this?

Other than that I plan on keeping it stock, just maintaing, drive and enjoy it.

Here is a few pictures:

The day I got the car. So much scratches in the paint, but so much good feel driving the car!

After 3 days of cleansing, cleaning and polishing the paint

After paint correction

Just finished polishing

Yesterday on its last trip for the year.

Wonderful! Thanks for the introduction and pictures. Such a great looking car and I love the aluminum package inside.

Take some pictures and let us know how the drive through the Alps goes next year.

Thank you. All the credit goes to the previous owner as I only did the paint touch up, but I agree. Is the aluminum package an option it got deliverd with? I never saw that on the spec list.

I would recommend the 3 spoke 996 steering wheel. Very popular here on RL. Thicker and smaller diameter while still giving you the safety of an airbag.
Noted, I will look into that. Thank you for that info

I got a new steeringwheel on order. The 993 cup wheel, complete with boss and airbag delete. It does come with alcantara trim, but I will send it in for a retrim with leather, red stiching and a red top centre piece instead of yellow. Purely cosmetic but it will go good with the seatbelts and the calipers I hope.

Found some photos of the trip in the Alps this summer. What an great place to drive I must say. The pictures tells the most:

The rental, half naked, resting after going over the St. Bernhard pass between Italy and Switzerland. A must drive for people nearby.

The rental, fully dressed, on the way up on the 48 hairpins in the famous Stelvio pass. 1900hrs in the evening gave me no traffic over this pass. Sport mode + was enabled!

Passo de Stelvio, looking down on all hairpins we just did. I wanted to go down and up again but the missues said no.

Going up the furkapass, known from the James Bond movie - Goldfinger (An Aston Martin and a '65 mustang chasing eachother down the Eastern side of the pass). Also a must drive!

Looking down on roads that went by way to fast. Should have done this climb a couple of times also. A must drive!

My fathers orginal '66 Shelby after I did use two full on days on the paint. This is a great drivingmachine with so much soul.
