Default Regular Maintenance

Here's my list of regular maintenance items, culled from the Porsche documentation, what I've learned on this forum, plus Andy's excellent PDF document:
  • Oil and filter change every 5k
  • Pollen and engine air filters every 15k
  • SAI check and cutoff valve tested every 15k, replace by 30k
  • Fan/Alt/AC belt every 30k
  • Cap, rotors, plugs every 30k
  • Mobilube PTX 75w90 Gear oil every 60k
  • Ignition wires every 60k
  • Fuel filter every 60k
  • P/S belt, reservoir, and fluid every 100k
  • Distributor belt every 100k
  • Clean ISV every 2 years
  • Flush brake and clutch fluid every 2 years
  • Flush P/S fluid every 10 years if low mileage and not already done at 100k
  • Check/replace Oil and AC series resistors every 10 years

Am I missing anything?

Does this match the regular maintenance items and intervals you use?

(Edited multiple times based on feedback from the thread)

I would at least inspect the SAI valve with more frequency (maybe every 1-2 years). Once those rust out, things go downhill quickly.

I think you are right about that. I just checked my records and its been done every 30k on my car, just recently inspected and replaced again at 30k from the last replacement. It wasn't rusted - don't have corrosion issues up here - but it was no longer working properly.

Edited list above to reflect this change.

Easy to check, just detach the hose attached to it and one should be able to slip a hose over it and blow into the hose with some resistance but not draw air from it.

Durametric lets one trigger the blower and one can hear it.

Testing the vacuum actuated cut off valve can probably be tested manually as well.

A full system test would be to do the above component tests then apply a vacuum manually to open the cutoff valve, use Durametric to run the blower and listen at the tail pipe to see if one can hear the blower through the exhaust.

Other's thoughts on this?

Every 10-15k miles! They don't seem to operate correctly much longer than that...

Some thoughts:
  • Oil change every 5k to 6K miles when convenient.
  • Pollen and engine air filters every 15k miles, I would just inspect and see how dirty they look. Mine had twice this service use time and looked relatively clean
  • Fan/Alt/AC belt every 30k
  • Cap, rotors, plugs every 30k miles, I would also buff the carbon tracts off the caps internal contact points & rotor once a year or so. This may eliminate an occasional misfire OBD code and potentially extend the cap and rotor's life.
  • SAI check and cutoff valve every 30k, Test yes, replace only if leaking.
  • Mobilube PTX 75w90 Gear oil every 60k miles
  • Ignition wires every 60k miles or longer, I would time this with other work that minimizes the incremental labor of replacing the wires.
  • Fuel filter every 60k miles, My car has 100K on it, I may do this some day.
  • Flush brake and clutch fluid every 3 years, 2 years if you live in a wet climate.

My experience seems to bear out that they don't last 30k, so I'll change this to check at 15k.

List above edited to reflect.

List updated to reflect oil AND filter change at 5k. Porsche recommends filters on every other oil change but best practice seems to be to do filters every time.

Note that I did not indicate which oil to use. I'll keep that particular tidbit for my personal notes.

I don't think this has to be done very often. On my car it was 130k miles when I did the belt and replaced the reservoir. Belt was definitely ready at that point.

No difference in steering feel or effort with the new fluid.

Hmm... isn’t ps fluid and/or atf use in this application hygroscopic like brake fluid? I would think it would be on a 30k mile interval at the very least.

Unless your car is a daily driver, and the climate is moderate, the brake/clutch circuit should be an annual item (at the least). Just for insurance of fluid integrity.
