Default Cams and such

I've posted a few times about what to do with compression leaks and such, 3.8 vs. other, even Protomotive (I still wish trusted mechanics would say, "Yeah, that's awesome...do it". Haven't found them yet

So, suppose I have the short ratio box, LWFW, LSD, suspension, and I need a rebuild for whatever reason anyway, and decided to do cams "+", rather than the incremental $10k for the 3.8 (over the rebuild to stock).

What should I consider as the "+"? And which cams do people like for street/track?

Clearly upgraded valve guides vs. factory, but what else that is really performance and/or longevity adding, without getting esoteric?

I'll be consulting SW, but it helps to have some leading Qs too.

Thanks,

Web cams they have an RS style that still works with the hydraulic lifters.

As for the "+" i feel like the options are out there but it's up to you if you want to do them like

RS/96' valves (hear that +96' have bigger valves)
APR head studs
Ti valve springs + retainers
ditch the SAI with a block off plate
ditch the heater fan, w/ RS heater ducting/pipe thing... (forgot what they call it)
Add VRAM
Sport/high flow 200/100 cell cats

JPS, Pick up a copy of this book.
Amazon Amazon

It's one of the most comprehensive well written books about Harley V twin motors. It explains what happens when you add cams, compression etc. While the actual specs don't carry over the theory applies to the porsche as well. They are both 2 valve non, VVT air cooled motors.

After stuffing your head in that for a while I can better assist you with cams etc.

This book has helped me build many winning combinations in various marques.

But open to suggestions. First step is just to get second opinion. Then pull engine and assess. I still have time...
