Default New to the 993

Hey 993 forum,

I have sold my 1976 912E. I loved it, but it needed a lot of work to become a DD that I was unable to do.

I traded her in for a 1995 Carrera 4.

Really looking forward to reading through these topics and learning everything I can about this vehicle. It has been a joy to drive thus far.

Here she is!

Thanks,

I'll add some pics soon!

My plans are to drive the hell out of it. As far as mods, I intend to keep her mostly original, however I am adding a double din head unit with Android Auto so that I can have Waze on the big screen- will update that too!

Huh! Where are you going to put a double din radio in a 993?

Right there! I posted about this unit a few weeks ago when I had it in the 912. It's a single din unit that has a double din screen. Pretty cool for my purposes. I like original, but Waze is Waze. Plus I can have Spotify and never look at my phone for a text. I kept the original Porsche radio in case I ever sell the car...

If anybody needs more details, let me know.

Good looking C4! Need to see a pic with a side view so we can check out the wheels and stance! Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride.

Looks good. What Sony model number is the unit you installed?

Congrats on your new 993. Quite a bit of difference coming from the 912. I recently picked up a '68 912 and love the long hood style and SWB, but it is no 993.

Here's one. It came with 996 Cup 3s as well as the original cup 2s- but I like the look of the 3s so they are staying for now.

Thanks, It is the XAV-AX100. It has Apple CarPlay as well as AndroidAuto which I am using.

They are coming out with a newer model that adds a CD player- but this one is priced right and I don't need a CD player.

Thanks, I do love this car, there are a few benefits to the 912 that can't be found on most other cars. There was a lightness to it unlike any car I've ever felt. In first gear taking off in the 912 felt a lot like an electric bike does with that instant torque. Also the handling, in my short time with that car, I was able to push it to the limit while staying within the laws of the state of New York. Beautiful, slow and FUN! Enjoy yours!

Here's a shot of mine

Congratz,
I apologize for asking a personal question but, how many miles on the odometer?

Beautiful car and congrats! I love the carbon touches in that interior.

I am not a fan of the Boxster wheels, and they definitely won't get much love here on RL. The cup 2s or 993 twists would be a huge upgrade.

Thanks! Didn't know they were Boxter wheels! That's good to know- Maybe I'll put snow tires on them and summers on the original cup 2s.

That sounds like a great plan. The Cup 2 wheels would look more period correct on the 993. I thought that those were Boxster wheels but it looks like they are 996 C2 wheels. This is a very helpful link that shows all of the different wheel weights, factory part numbers and offsets:

I too think of those as boxster wheels....wheels are personal taste of course but those are not popular among us 993 junkies. But I have a C4 cab and love it... enjoy your 993 and welcome to the club!
